I also refuse to go on statins. I found a book called The Cholesterol Myth. I highly recommend it. There is a formula they use in Europe using the HDL, LDL & Lipid number to determine your risk of heart disease. Also it has not been verified that Cholesterol even causes heart disease. The book is very eye opening. It will give you some good info to discuss with your Physician.

The title of this book alone tells me it is not worth my time to read it. Cholesterol is not a myth. It is a well known and proven lipid, found in the human body.

To say it is a myth in a book title! I am educated enough in human lipids to know there is, and always has been a lipid called Cholesterol. No myth.

Knowing these ratios is not something new. Dr. Kenneth Cooper knew this back in the late 1970's. He decided to write a book about them in the 1980's. Anyone that was truly concerned could have easily found this information close to 40 years ago.

I have been typing here on this forum about this the 20+ years a have been posting here.

Cholesterol is a factor in CAD, as are lifestyle and genetics. Dr. Cooper talked about this in his books back in the 1980's. Some things in ones life they can change, and probably lower their risks of that disease. Other factors like genetics? Never heard anyone in any field say a human can change their DNA or Genetic Predisposition for specific diseases.
