@cheriere  I'm going to think good thoughts in the next two weeks for your upcoming appointment Heart!  I still remember my manual adjustments when I was a kid and broke those bones- it hurt a lot and felt so instense and strange.   When I broke my arm/wrist, it was a full on clean break of the bones in two places and so the doctors had to lean in and twist it back into place and put a pain killer shot into my arm and I was 9 years old. The doctors did a fantastic job and my wrist and other broken bones healed perfectly.  I think that your mom will be alright! She just needs to take it easy and make sure to give her arm some rest Smiley Happy.

You don't know how much I appreciate your support.  It really means a lot to the both of us.❤️

Your procedure sounds almost exactly like what she had done.  They said her break, luckily, was clean too.
I just fixed a good dinner, if I do say so myself lol.

I made roast, potatoes, sweet corn, and some of her favorite rolls.  She's eating right now.😃

Hopefully, she'll get a full belly, take her meds and get some good sleep.  I've been letting her know you're rooting for her.  That really does make her feel better.❤️

@cheriere  Just seeing this post from you about your mom.  I haven't read all the responses because things have been hectic lately, but I wanted you to know that I'm wishing her a speedy recovery and for you some well needed and deserved relaxation.

Thank you so much.😃❤️

I really do appreciate your saying that and knowing she's in your thoughts.  It means a lot to me.❤️

@cheriere  You're very welcome, Cheriere Smiley Very HappyHeart! I'll tell ya, your mom is a tough little lady to be able to go through the manual adjustment- when I was a kid, I had to be velcroed to a stretcher for one of them since it was so painful Smiley Very Happy  Your dinner sounds delicious and nutritious, Cheriere- I bet your family loves your cooking! I'm making spixy chipotle chicken tortilla soup tonight.  Go Cheriere's Mom Smiley Very HappyHeart! Now your dinner sounds better to me!❤️. That's right up my alley!😃

Unfortunately, my dad is a VERY PICKY eater and only eats a few foods!  Most things he likes, I don't and have trouble making lol.  However, roast is something we all love!  We'll definitely have enough for leftovers tomorrow too, so that's a GOOD thing!😃

I guess he's gonna have to learn to try more foods now since mom can't really do any cooking.😂

It was really hard on her.😔

After the ortho doc took better X-rays, they found out she'd broken her wrist and dislocated her forearm bone from it.  They ended up putting it in a cast.  But before they did this, they did a procedure called a manual reduction.  This nearly killed her, pain wise.  They gave her a lidocaine shot and then one guy held her wrist as the dr pulled and twisted her arm to try to get it back into place.  This seemed to take forever too.  Poor thing screamed and broke out in a sweat.

Now, it's in a cast and we're supposed to go back in two weeks to get X-rays to make sure it's healing properly.  Right now, she's still in pain and miserable.  I did tell her that all of my forum friends have been praying for her and sending well wishes.  She had no idea I'd posted about her experience, but she didn't mind.  In fact, she nearly cried whenever I told her.  Your kindness really meant a lot to her...and to me.❤️

Thank you for remembering and asking about her.❤️❤️❤️

@cheriere  Sounds like your dad is a meat and potatoes kind of guy! I just finished cooking my chipotle chicken tortilla soup and I think its going to be really good topped with tortilla chip strips, sour cream and shredded cheese.  Pot roast is delicious- I love to cook a big pot roast with vegetables. If your dad ever watches youtube chefs, Poor Man's Gourmet is great at giving easy and delicious cooking tutorials that are very straight forward for him to learn how to cook different dishes. Smiley Wink  You and your mom can sit in the kitchen and coach him while he cooks! Smiley Very Happy

Re: ORTHOPEDIC VISIT FOR MOM

I broke my wrist 7 years ago and it was worse than that. I had the option to wear a cast or have surgery. I wore a cast for 3 months and the bone sticks out but I have no problems with it.

Re: ORTHOPEDIC VISIT FOR MOM

@cheriere @ : Mercy. This made me cry while reading everything that your mother had to deal with. The pain, the screaming and breaking out in a sweat.

Is this the normal procedure for her break ?
