Re: Nutrisystem sales tactic... eat what you eat now and lose weight.

The only thing I know about Nutrisystem(from doing it in the past) is that the food is so bad I would rather starve than eat it. So yes, I would lose weight. Jenny Craig on the other hand that has similar techniques with portion control pre made food on the other hand is not only better tasting, but they actually do VERY MUCH SO incorporate learning correct portion control size and teaching/learning what healthy choices to make while you are on the program eating their food. There are substitutions and choices to replace their meals with your own, and they do a fantastic job with their resources and counseling to make sure this is learned. Not sure how or if any of that is done with Nutrisystem since when I did it years ago I only ordered it online from Nutrisystem.com and I only received the food and no counseling.

I've eaten the food and it certainly isn't gourmet, but it definitely is palatable. After all, it is a diet. {#emotions_dlg.blink} I agree with others that it's more about portion control than anything else. Also, it isn't true that this diet is high in sodium. Of course, it is processed, and that is something to take into consideration. That, in my opinion, is the most objectionable aspect of this diet. If you're motivated, and follow the diet closely, it will work. Now, keeping the weight off is another thing, entirely.{#emotions_dlg.unsure}

We all know what we have to do in order to lose weight. The problem is, we don't do it.

I tried it for a month once and didn't think the canned food was bad at all. It was about like canned goods you'd buy at the grocery store. Their muffins were terrible and I threw the breakfast mixes out.

I believe that many NS products contain quite a lot of sodium, artificial flavors/colors, and other unwholesome stuff. A fresh or frozen veggie sauted with a healthy fat or steamed without any fat at all is much more wholesome. If youcan talk your head into eating what is good for the body rather than what appeals to your tongue, youmay wind up miraculously realizing that unseasoned food can really taste GREAT even without icky additions.

(My Bolding)

You are mistaken. They do not contain a lot of sodium. Their total daily amount of sodium is well within the recommended daily allowance. As I said in my previous post (#12) their food is processed and to me that isn't something I'd want to eat for an extended length of time. But for those who don't mind processed foods, this certainly is an option.

Re: Nutrisystem sales tactic... eat what you eat now and lose weight.

Please, nobody is "falling" for anything. As another poster said, we all know what we are supposed to do, but we don't, so that's why we turn to something like Nutisystem to get a jump start. I have no delusions thinking that the pizza or mac&cheese they are going to provide tastes like, or is in the portion size that I usually eat. And with the Q if you don't like it, or if it doesn't work out, you get your $ back. So what's the risk? I need some discipline right now, if this helps, good for me!

It isn't bad at all. Those people just couldn't stay on track. I tried it and lost the last ten pounds.

Wrong is still wrong just because you benefited from it.
