When ever NS profiles a person who has lost weight on the program in small print they explain the persons exercise program which is often substantial. They then say " results not typical. " Yes, you do habe to exercise to lose weight.

Kathy L is not the rep tonight. Its the former rep named Kat who used to be on QVC.

She did lose some weight on the program but remains a large woman.

Are there products in the weight loss industry that don't have that disclaimer? Seems I've seen something similar applied with most products.

No one needs a weight loss "pill". I lost 70 lbs. a few years ago just by walking and eating a low carb diet. I've kept it off by walking and eating a low carb diet. It's actually easy. Don't waste your money on quackery. It's common sense to eat less and exercise more...walla!!

My point is the hosts never mention a dedicated exercise plan.

The viewer is left w the idea that it's the product alone that results in large weight loss.

I have never been left with that impression at all.

I can read the disclaimers for myself...I don't need the host to read it as well.

It is shown MANY, many times.

The first month of being on a NS diet will show the most weight loss which is not unusual for any weight loss program really. If you read the fine print on the NS ads it says participants took months and months to lose the dozens of pounds they achieved after being on NS. Do the math and that can cost a lot of money, some of which many people cannot afford or are willing to go there.

@ellaphant You are correct but that the hosts are selling a product.  There are many health and exercise products sold in a similar manner.  The viewer is left to believe that if they take Goli vitamins they will loose weight - no need to change your eating habits or exercise.  Exercise for a few minutes a day with XYZ piece of equipment and you will be thin without doing anything else.  With NS specifically they often overlook the fact that the individual needs to supplement with fruits and vegetables.

@ellaphant

Frankly, I am astounded anyone can lose weight on the NS diet.  It is MUCH too high in carbs and sugar.   And the preservatives!  Yikes.

Yes, an exercise program is important, but if you're eating too many carbs, you won't lose a pound!

JMO, of course.

My girlfriend followed the Nutrisystem diet. She lost 100 pounds AND she did not exercise.

Anything that helps someone lose that much weight, I am glad there is a market for it. I honestly do not think she would have lost that much weight on her own.
