Nurses And John A Word Please...

[ Edited ]

I'm on the floor of a small store styling ladies.  My shoe, a Dansko, raises my heel only one inch, so I'm not in heels.  I'm also on thin carpet.

I burst a vessel about 2 inches below my knee.  Somewhat uncomfortable.

Got an Ace bandage.  I only get a 15 minute break!

Started the bandage today after finding last night.  Will keep bandage on and elevate.

Many thanks to all!Smiley Happy

@ECBG, I hope that you can get to your doctor, who will probably tell you to rest and stay off of your feet for a few days.  Feel better.

The next time that I hear salt and ice together, it better be in a margarita!

@ECBG

My first move with almost any injury is ice. Not sure about wrapping, as some things it can make worse. Had many deep bruises that have broken non-critical blood vessels, fact still have several on my left hip still a deep purple multi color from my skating falls.

Only way I elevate that area is with my Teeter Inversion table, at full inversion. Still using ice as it does feel good eases the discomfort. I know quitting skating would help, but no way I am doing that now that I can once again skate well.

Always a good idea to see your doctor as all blood vessels are not the same.

Re: Nurses And John A Word Please...

@dex@SXMGirl@hckynut,  Thank you all who held my hand through this.

I spoke to the triage nurse this am and she definately wanted me to be seen.  Turns out it's a minor vein probably from standing still.  (Have no idea when I'm STILL for extended times at the store!).  It's really small vein, though.

Support hose were recommended.  Elevation only helps if it's up the wall!  Went through THAT with both pregnancys!

Think I'll keep on with the ace bandage.Smiley Happy

Thanks again.

My only socks are all Copper Fit, which are compression socks. I have ankle height for warmer weather and calf high and almost knee high for ice skating.  They feel comfortable and are nothing like TED Hose, which are really support hose.

That company even makes the same type for woman to be worn with high heel shoes. Those basically just cover the part of the foot that cannot be seen with dress types of womens shoes, other than ones that just straps.

For me the 1st things was/is, and will always be ice as it slows down the amount of tissue involved in most injuries, which in turn means less pain area and more responsive healing.

You need compression socks and maybe a lace up shoe with cushioned sole that provides good support.

I have several Copper Fit products, including two for my back and wrist, hand, and knee sleeves.  They are the best!  I need to get the socks in all of those sizes you mentioned because the RA is now making my feet and legs swell. I had managed to escape that for many years  . . .  but no more.
