Re: Now I remember why I don't like

Have they checked you for pancreatitis?  If not, see someone about this asap.  That could well be the case if it's on your left side.  Right side?  Have they checked your liver?  These are extremely important.  I lost a dear cousin last year to pancreatitis - wasn't diagnosed early enough to save her. Please have someone check this out immediately. Continued pain like you are having means something is definitely wrong.

@Perkup I don't know why the doctor did not have them look at the pancreas when I had the ultrasound on my kidney's & bladder. I guess maybe because the pain is left side/back not stomach pain.

The only reason I went to the doctor is because I was in so much pain. I dealt with it from Thurs night to Mon morning. I said no more. I called the doctors office to see if I could get in & told them if not I'm going to the Minor Emergency Clinic because I could not tolerate the pain any longer. They told me to come on in. I feel like all these doctors think you are only coming in trying to get pain pills. I'm not like that. I don't want them. If my doctor knew me he would know that. I have only seen him 3 times. Anyone that knows me knows I only go to the doctor once per year for blood test to get refills on my thyroid medication. Other then that yearly appt I have to be about dying before I will go to the doctor. My sister sent me an email saying it must really hurt if you went to the doctor. LOL!!! She knows me.

So far I have only taken 3 lortabs, 2 cyclobenzapar (sp) muscle relaxer & 1 Aleve just so I could get some sleep. The lortab got rid of some pain but not all of it but made me pass out so I could sleep.

The doctor gave me a script for Tamadrol that I have not taken any yet. I don't want to take it after reading the side effects. One being you can stop breathing when you start taking it??? I thought No Thanks I may wake up dead.

I think this is horrible! I used to call this getting caught up in red tape/paperwork! If your pain is on a scale of 1-10, is higher than 7 as you're already on some pain meds, then I'd get myself to ER. You can't go on in horrific pain and shouldn't have to.

@Mustang Shar The doctor asked me on a scale of 1-10 what the pain was. I told him right now for some reason it's only about a 5 but was worse yesterday afternoon & was worse the afternoon after I saw him. I told him the pain is not as bad during the day but at night it's a 10+. Normally during the day I would say it's a 7. With pain meds I would say it's a 2. That's the problem though I can't keep taking the pills as I cannot function. I'm not going to the ER. I have only been to the ER twice in my life & did not really get the help I needed either of those times so why would I go back?

I don't want pills for the pain I want to know what's causing it & take care of it.

Re: Now I remember why I don't like

Remember that Medicine is not only science but art. With so many specialists, the fear of litigation, the practice of defensive medicine, the lost of a holistic view, the constant bombarding of commercials on prime time TV with the promise of a magic bullet... and sometimes the solution is simple so much so that no one thinks about it. I understand your frustration but do not give up, let the professionals find what your problem is, let them do all the thinking it is their job.

Get well soon🌻

to go to the doctor's office. 1st off I was having gallbladder issues which I won't go into again other then to say my right side miraculously stopped hurting a couple of weeks ago. Since DH had to have ct scan which showed nothing. No follow up doctor appt no more tests. If it needed a ct scan & it showed nothing seems like they would go from there? Am I missing something?

I had to go back to the doctor Mon for an emergency appt. I started having pain on my left side thurs night after dinner. I though it will be gone tomorrow. Fri came & still pain I had pain so bad I had to get some pain pills from I won't say who just so I could go to sleep. I would wake up when it wore off. Thought about going to the minor emergency clinic over the weekend but decided to wait & see if I could see my doctor on Mon. Sure they fit me in I peed in a cup, no kidney stone, no kidney infection. Sent me to the hospital for labs & ultrasound of kidney's & bladder. Received call this morning everything looks good. What??? I said what test next because I cannot go day to day like this. She said the doctor said most likely muscle related to take Aleve & the pain medication & call him back in a week if it still hurts. I guess I'm suppose to sit here in pain or keep taking pain pills so I'm in zombieland & cannot function. So I hope this stops hurting because I think I'm going to scream if I have to wait another week.

LOL!!! Thanks for letting me vent. In pain & not happy. No wonder I never want to go to the doctor. Guess Why? You go & they never find out what's wrong & you never get any help.

If you have that attitude, you will die a very young age!!!

Re: Now I remember why I don't like

This reminds me of the fact all the doctors didn't find my mother's ovarian cancer, until it was a month from being the end.
