I had significant dental work done today (found great dentist!) and I requested nitrous oxide. It was great, but it seems to be taking a while to totally get out of my system. What are your experiences with nitrous oxide at the dentist?

The gas usually dissipates fairly quickly.  Major dental work causes headaches- at least in me. Numbing  needles, depending where located in mouth, and the number, can make for headache and exhaustion.

My fabulous dentist, I’m with him 37 years, compared major dental work to minor surgery.

@IMW I bet you are right....I probably just have a headache from the amount of work I had done. Thanks for the feedback.

Don’t be alarmed if you don’t feel well for a few days.

Try laying down in a dark quiet room with an ice bag on your head. Hopefully you will fall asleep. Sleep really helps headaches.

Good Luck! I bet your teeth are going to look and feel terrific.

I love my dentist, however hate having dental work done.  I always have nitrous oxide.

My dentist actually told me that the nitrous can actually relieve migraines.  I truely believe the headache is from the actual dental work done.  If it continues, please call the dentist back.

I think the headache is probably from the shots. I get headaches when I have dental work done. I don't use the nitrous oxide. I used it when I was younger. They always run thru oxygen before they turn it off.
