Why would you not get one? No one looks forward to it, but in the scheme of things, it is not all that bad. Especially if it can save your life.
There are health reasons that would make someone not willing or able to have a colonoscopy. It's not always just a matter of it being uncomfortable. This screening would be a sensible alternative in those cases. BTW, when I queried my gastro doctor about this, the first words out of his mouth were it's expensive and insurance doesn't cover it. When I told him I'd spoken to my insurance rep and it is covered, he didn't know what to say. Since it's covered by medicare, it's covered for anyone on medicare or medicare advantage. In my case, there are no copays for the test.
