I've read a couple of articles about a new strain of Covid they are calling "razor blade throat".  The person gets a really bad sore throat and may affect the intestinal tract.

The article I read in my local paper is that it is spreading fast.  Has anyone heard anything about this?  I was wondering if my last Covid booster covers this?

I read about this yesterday .  Last summer I got Covid and the worst symptom was a severe sore throat.  I had not gotten a sore throat that bad since I was in my twenties.

The sore throat at that time helped me to quit smoking.  With that much pain I couldn't smoke and so I took one day at a time....couldn't smoke the first, second & third day with this and I figured it was a good time to quit at the age of 24.

On a positive note, they say that though the sore throat can be very painful, most who get this don't get severely ill.

I had the strain that went around last Christmas and am only just feeling recovered. I was getting over 9 horrible days in bed when I went back to work and got hit with another bug going around that people couldn't get rid of. I ended up with a long covid diagnosis on top of it all.

I really, Really, REALLY don't want to get it again.

I've been hearing about it also, and read that it's nickname is the "Nimbus" variant. Per a microbiologist at Mayo:

"What’s keeping experts’ eyes on NB.1.8.1? It has several mutations on its spike protein — the area of the virus that binds to the cells and allows the virus to enter — that set it apart from the currently dominant variant (LP.8.1), says microbiologist Matthew Binnicker, director of clinical virology at the Mayo Clinic. And in some studies it’s been shown to be more transmissible, meaning it can spread more easily from person to person, Binnicker adds.

And so they’re thinking it may really take off in terms of becoming a predominant strain of the virus and cause more infections as we enter into the summer months,” he says."

Another article said so far it's been found in:

• Arizona

 California

• Colorado

• New Jersey

• New York

• Hawaii

• Illinois

• Maryland

• Massachusetts

• Ohio

• Rhode Island

• Vermont

• Virginia

• Washington

Nimbus please stay away from my DH in FL please! I worry about his older asthmatic lungs so much.Woman Sad

Re: New Version Of Covid

[ Edited ]

I think that I had it two weeks ago, but did not test for it.  It started with a terrible sore throat for a day or two, then turns into a lot of  congestion, body aches, low grade fever.  It took about ten days to be done with the congestion.  Yesterday was the first full day that I did not have to blow my nose.

At this point, people need to be looking into what remedies take care of this virus and have things on hand just like you do for any other health issue so you're not worried about what the new strain is or where it's showing up.
