Anyone getting it.   My doctor wants me to get it

My doctor wanted me to get it as well, but I declined. There are reports out there of very bad side-effects, since its a live virus being injected into your system. For myself, I'm not going to have it.

My DH and I got the older one, not rushing into this one, it is too new on the market.

I don’t like to try out new vaccines or meds....I wait to see what nasty stuff crops up under the side effects list in the years to follow.

I was surprised to be asked if I wanted it from the Pharmacy when I picked up a recent prescription. I had the original one a couple years ago. I declined.

My immediate reaction was "what are the drug companies up to now?"!!

Cynical I know! Just feel like they always want us to pump up with more of their spendy drugs!

I did rush to get it. I have known 2 people that got shingles. They were in agony, and one almost lost her vision in one eye, because of them

We had one day we felt a bit off color, but, it was really not a big deal ,and we are old codgers, so that might make a difference

Be aware that you can get the Shingles more than once.  I have a friend who got it 4 times.

I agree that no one wants to ever get shingles, but on the other hand we dont want to be infused with something that is not tried and true either.

I feel I have protection from the first shingles vaccine, and am not going to be in any hurry to get the new vaccine.

The doctor suggestively mentioned this new vaccine to my mother yesterday, since she had a bout with shingles 6 years ago.   She took the shingles vaccine as soon as the rash cleared up, and is not receptive to the idea of getting two more shots.
