A few months ago , I had surgery on my knee to repair a fracture.  It has given me a shooting pain down the leg every since.  The doctor wants me to see a pain management doctor about a possible 'nerve entrapment' .  Has anyone ever heard of this ?  Any details are appreciated.

@sarahpanda    Lots of pain management drs are neurologists.  They're able to run some tests to assess if nerves are involved and then treat accordingly.  Sometimes they can do nerve blocks which will cause the pain to be lessened in certain cases for a short period of time.  If this doesn't work or isn't an option, they have other ways of treating your pain since it's persistent.

I hope you're able to get relief soon.  Chronic pain can destroy one's quality of life and lead to even more health problems.  Please listen to your dr and get an appointment.😊❤️

I have heard of this and would also suggest seeing a doctor for an evaluation.

@SaveTheTurtles .  My orthopedic surgeon is the one who referred me to the pain management doctor for the possible nerve entrapment...I've had to wait 2 months so far to be seen - and still the appointment isn't until March 28.  I sure hope the 'tests' for the 'entrapment' doesn't make it any worse than it already is, that i why I asked if anyone has had any experiences with such a thing.

@sarahpanda ... Wow!! March 28th is a long time to wait for an appointment when it's been 2 months already!! You must be so uncomfortable!! 😞 Did you ask if you could be put on a cancellation list??

Also, have you googled this to see what it actually is ??

l wish you good luck seeing your doctor sooner!
Take care 💖

@EastCoastGal   I agree completely about asking to be put on a cancellation list.  Lots of times they will call you with an appointment.
