I am having a devil of a time figuring out what specifically I am allergic to. I cut caffeine out of my life, and ended up even having to stop drinking "no-caffeine" drinks that are decaffeinated, because even the small amounts left in beverages will cause me to have reactions. Cutting colas from my life was harder than dropping any other habit I've ever had, boy howdie! Symptoms: I get all-over muscle spasms & pain, along with a very uncomfortable restless legs sensation that is about to drive me insane, it is so miserable.

So, that got better, but I'm still having symptoms from many other beverages. I've tried eliminating those one by one, starting with red dye & now I'm probably going to have to tackle the biggest suspect ingredient that is in so many of them, aspartame. I've tried using those sugar-free water flavor packets, but have symptoms with those too. I hate to whine about plain water when we are blessed to have plenty of it in this country, but I sure would love to find a flavored beverage I could drink that wouldn't cause me to have symptoms. I can't drink teas because of the caffeine. Or coffees. Now, the sugar-free water flavor packets. I am limited if I can't use artificial sweeteners, because my dh & I are often using a low-carb way of eating lifestyle, and sugar or regular fruit juices are a no-no.

Has anyone else heard of this type of allergic reaction, and what have you done about it? What have you found as a replacement beverage? I'm running out of ideas. Looks like I'll have no choice but to drink plain bottled water Thanks for any helpful replies, I appreciate it.
