I have two 16 year old cats. All of a sudden one of them will only put her two front paws in the litter box when she uses it. Her back paws and butt are on the outside of the litter box with her back straight...and then she does her job (both #1 and #2) that way. Has anyone ever seen this kind of behavior before?
I keep the litter box very clean, so that isn't the problem. I took her to the vet Monday, and all of her lab work came back normal, but she couldn't get a urine sample (even with ultrasound as her bladder is so small). She put her on clavamox just in case it is a matter of a urinary tract infection. I know it's only been two days, but she is still using the litter box that way.
She is arthritic, but she is able to climb the pet steps I have for her. I know a lot of you have cats. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks, everyone!
