Re: NFL Wild Card Weekend!!!

Yellowrose, why are you sad about the Steelers' loss? I know you like the Texans, but didn't know you also favored the Steelers. I was just curious about that statement. I want Baltimore to win because I don't want the Colts to face New England. The Patriots seem to have the Colts' number, and a trip to Foxboro mostly turns out bad for Indy. That's the team they would least like to face.

Nothing wrong with having a bit of a crush on Aaron Rodgers. I like him also, and I'm quite a bit older than he is. There's just something about him....

Don't doubt my Ravens team .. they did great against the Steelers and I hope they take the Patriots like they did two years ago and went on to win the super bowl.. GO RAVENS ..

Tegan, I consider Pittsburgh my home away from home. My parents were born/raised there so we visited almost every summer growing up. I visit twice a year now. Love the Steelers!!! really really want to make it to a home game one of these days. I already have my Terrible Towel.

Re: NFL Wild Card Weekend!!!

Rosie - You go girl - I couldn't have said it better myself! The Lions could have gone on 4th & one, but didn't have confidence in their offense, I guess, so the punter shanks the ball (guess that's our fault, too) for 10yds. If you recall, we went for it on 4th & six, and made it. The Lions made some serious mistakes in the 2nd half of that game, and I'll admit we did poorly in the first half. So, it is what it is & on to the Packers, and we had better be "on the ball" - no pun intended. LOL!

yellowrose yellowrose yellowrose.....cheering for BOTH the COWBOYS and STEELERS!!!! What about all those Super Bowls when they squared off (and Steelers won I might add).....why that is like---OIL AND WATER---like ME cheering for BOTH Spurs/Lakers!!!!

And folks PLEASE just because you live in an area, you have a right, you might as well say it's a part of our AMERICAN FREEDOMS, to chose a team other than the ones in your local area----I DO----{#emotions_dlg.biggrin} My choice of teams has NOTHING to do with where I reside, my decision was based on the coaches/players of the respective teams.....Because of Joe Gibbs, and players like Art Monk, Darrell Green, Monte Coleman, Dave Butz, Charles Mann, Ken Houston and others and what they did off the field as well--that is how I chose my team. As for the NBA yes I DO love my LOCAL HOMETOWN SPURS but more for how they play as a TEAM and all they do for the community too......GREAT BUNCH OF GUYS!!!! And I like our cantankerous coach too, Give 'Em Heck, POP! Although I have a soft spot in my heart for JJ Watt on the Texans---but they are in a different conference than Washington....

Re: NFL Wild Card Weekend!!!

I respectfully disagree...if the Lions had gone for it on 4th and 1 and didn't make it, they would have given the Cowboys EXCELLENT field position on the next drive.....so it was a solid decision, it wasn't like there was little time left in the game, at that point there was still lots of time left for the Lions, and their defense had been doing a good job on Murray and Dez.....but who would've known the Lions punter would have a lousy punt!!!

The NFL is getting as bad as the NBA....the refs were terrible....pretty soon we will be hearing the CONSPIRACY THEORY in the NFL also like we NBA fans have for many years......And I'm not just talking about the interference call, how about but the Dez Bryant no helmet non call, on the other side the facemask siutation.....So instead of HOW BOUT DEM COWBOYS, IT'S HOW ABOUT DEM REFS!!!! Why don't they use the best officiating CREW to officiate the games, instead of refs that have never worked together.....too many things can go wrong....which it did!!!!

And I can't believe that BOTH the NFL/NBA are considering allowing states to expand gambling---and surprise surprise one of the States is NJ and who is the Governor, Chris Christie---one of the Cowboy Huggers---hmmmmmmmmmm??? Can you imagine what would have happened if the extended gambling was in place!!!! {#emotions_dlg.blink}

TEGAN--CONGRATS on your COLTS WIN---GO COLTS!

And CONGRATS to Sunshine on your Ravens---I bet Beli and he Pat's did not want to see a Ravens win happen.....{#emotions_dlg.laugh}

And CONGRATS to any PANTHER fans too!!!!

GO PACKERS!!! Wink I hope you are PUMPED UP!!!! {#emotions_dlg.biggrin} ICE BOWL REMATCH!!!!

Re: NFL Wild Card Weekend!!!

Regarding no penalty for Dez on the field, that only includes that players that are playing, which is why he was asked to go back. Defense was on the field, not offense which is why it didn't pertain to Dez.

ESPN provided the info on the rule--- Rule 12, Section 3, Article 1(j) prohibits "removal of a helmet by a player in the field of play or the end zone during a celebration or demonstration or during a confrontation with a game official or any other player."

Dez was disputing the call.....

On the Dan Patrick Show, Tony Dungy said the following.....

To me," Dungy said on "The Dan Patrick Show," Dez Bryant's actions were "worse than the pass-interference call. You can debate the pass-interference call. The helmet rule is plain. And for an official to not have the courage to call that. Dez Bryant is not on the field at the time. He is an offensive player not coming in as a substitute. There is no reason he is out there other than to argue the call with no helmet on. Every official should have thrown a flag at that point. At the very least it should have been another 15-yard penalty. And there is no way you can justify not calling that."

Re: NFL Wild Card Weekend!!!

BLONDIE....omg, where have you been?? Unless I've been missing you, I don't check in here as often anymore. So good to see ya. Yes, that 4th and 6 was gutsy, and the 4th and goal was gutsy. Like I said, that's why the score was 24-20. We took chances. There's no tomorrow so play to win, and if you don't win, at least you went down fighting. You know, if only the refs had called that running into our punter penalty as they should had, if only Witten hadn't drawn that so called holding penalty, if only the defensive holding penalty on Witten HAD been called, who knows how many points we would had scored. See, the Lions aren't the only ones who had "what if's". We definitely didn't play our best. Maybe nerves kicked in, but we need to bring our A game next week. I'm just a bundle of nerves.

qvcfreak, Dez being on the field was so important that it wasn't even mentioned during the game. It's the haters saying anything they can to taint this win. But I didn't know that was the rule. Glad you mentioned it.

Spurt, it may be our American freedom to root for a team outside of your state, but my Texan Native freedom says it just isn't right. I may have Pittsburgh blood running thru me and I may like the Steelers, but I always always always stay true to my Texas teams. No oil and water for me. My Dallas boys are always on top. But I do appreciate our right to disagree. And Pitt didn't win ALL those Superbowls. They are ahead 3-2. I was hoping for another round this year to tie things up.

Now I must go back in hiding. I may be jinxing my team by. I must stay with what's been working.{#emotions_dlg.biggrin}
