Re: NFL News and Notes for March 2014!!!

And the latest news is that DeSean Jackson is set to visit Washington first thing Monday and that Daniel Snyder intends to sign him. I think I'd want more information first, but Snyder's his own guy, so who knows what will happen.

Re: NFL News and Notes for March 2014!!!

And now the Chiefs have decided they don't want DeSean Jackson and have backed out after making some calls and doing a background check. So the two organizations that know DeSean the best want nothing to do with him. The Chiefs also have a desperate need for a speed receiver, so their dropping out of the competition says a lot. The top two contenders now seem to be the Redskins and Raiders. DeAngelo Hall of the Redskins says he wants to take DeSean under his wing and guide him, and that getting DeSean would make his year. (Mike Vick and Jason Avant tried to guide DeSean with very limited success. I hate to tell DeAngelo this, but DeSean doesn't want to change.)

DeSean is scheduled to visit the Redskins tomorrow and they'll reportedly try to get him to sign with them before he leaves the facility. It'll be interesting to see if they can pull it off. If there's a smoking gun coming up soon then DeSean would be smart to sign the first contract offered with whatever signing bonus is offered and pocket the signing bonus. I'm thinking he's not likely to last out any contract that he'll get. There's some ticking time-bomb (maybe more than one) out there with DeSean's name on it and I'm pretty sure it'll go off sooner rather than later.

SPURT. One could almost get the impression you're not happy about possibly getting DeSean Jackson. If it's any help the Raiders really want him and they have more cap space. The Bills are also said to be more interested in him now, so maybe the Redskins will come up short.

GARDENMAN....nope not happy. Although DeSean has talent I don't want a distraction in the locker room and for silence from the Eagles and their locker room speaks volumes.

And Deangelo Hall wants to be "his keeper"....Hall has had his problems controlling himself on the field and he's not going to be with DeSean 24/7 and when he's off the field to make sure he stays out of trouble.... And there are a lot of young guys on offense....although Santana Moss is a veteran he's the quiet type....

I want the Redskins to build through the draft! And we need to save our cap space for some young talent.....

And interesting that the Raiders are checking his background....they can have 'em!

Exactly how I felt when Jerry brought in TO. The thought of him wearing our star made me want to wring JJ's neck, and I'm not a violent person. But that did it.

Re: NFL News and Notes for March 2014!!!

The wrong guy in a locker room can just destroy a team. TO was the wrong guy for most teams. It's looking like teams are figuring out DeSean is the wrong guy too.

It's going to be interesting to see what comes out about DeSean. A week ago Andy Reid was raving about DeSean, now DeSean's been released and Andy's done a little homework and despite having a big need at the position and showing early interest, they've decided not to get involved. There's something radioactive going on around DeSean that's making him largely untouchable to informed parties. The Raiders are now looking into him a bit more and I wouldn't be shocked to see them drop out of the sweepstakes. It's going to be very interesting to see what comes out over the next few days/weeks/months. There's something big there that's scaring teams off of DeSean and it's bound to leak out sometime. One of the teams that doesn't pick him up will likely let it leak to explain why they didn't get him. Raider fans are making a big push for the Raiders to pick him up and if they don't, their fans are likely to demand to know why. If I was betting, I'd bet we'll hear something from the Raiders as to what's really going on with DeSean. They'll likely leak the news to try and get their fans off their backs.

And you wouldnt want to make the members of the Raider's black hole fan base mad....but hey maybe they can control DeSean....But yes it sound like something very fishy and very serious is going down..and scaring folks away.......Even Andy didnt come to his rescue and Jets want nothing to do with him.....

Re: NFL News and Notes for March 2014!!!

There's something big going on with DeSean. There were nine teams interested in him and now we're down to three (maybe two if the Raiders back out.) The Redskins and Bills still seem interested but I'm not sure how long that will last.

There are thirty-two teams in the NFL and only nine showed any interest in a pro bowl caliber receiver? Six of those have now dropped out of the running leaving just three still involved. There's definitely something going on there. The local press is all just assuming Chip Kelly is a moron and this is all a power play on his part to show that he's in charge, but if that was the case then teams would be lining up to sign DeSean. Teams with a desperate need for a big play speed receiver are passing on DeSean including KC where he's known by the coaching staff.

It would be nice if the local press would get off their tail-sides and do some real reporting on what's really going on instead of simply moaning about the mean old Eagles not telling them everything. Apparently 29 teams in the NFL have figured out the issue, so you'd think one reporter would step up to bat and actually do some investigating to find out the answer. Clearly the Eagles aren't going to publicly comment on it, and they aren't obligated to talk to the press until just before the draft and even then the talk will likely be limited to the draft and any questions about DeSean will be politely turned aside. I'm guessing Jay Glazer or another of the big guys will have to get the scoop while our local yokels lie around and complain.
