Did not bang my toe or the toe nail

Nothing fell on them.

Cannot understand why this horrible throbbing pain persists.

It is so  panfful and extremely sensative that I took 600 MG Daypro for pain relief.

I hope I can get some sleep now.

If you see no sign of an ingrown toenail, perhaps you have gout?  If it were me, I would make a doctor appointment.

Hope you get to the bottom of it and feel better soon.

It sounds like gout  to me. That is terribly painful, and if I were you, I would see a Dr

I've never had it but sounds like it could be gout.  Very painful I understand.  Hope it doesn't last long.

If it's your big toe then it is probably gout.  From what I have read for some reason it only goes into the big toe.  Make a doctor appointment.  If anyone here has gout and it is in your other toes then I stand corrected.

Seeing my Podiatrist this afternoon and it is not the big toe it is the third toe.

I will post tonight and advise as to what it is,

@GiantsLover  gout can attack any joint in your body. My sister had it in her knee. It is nothing to play around with. You are doing the right thing

Less likely it could be a toenail fungus, but that kind of pain is usually limited to the big toe.

My experience is that all podiatrists are not created equal! It took me going to several before finding one who is both knowledgable and skilled.

Gout!!   Pure cherry juice to drink and a Purine diet.  

My husband has bouts of this and no longer can have shrimp.  That's the kiss of death for his gout. HTH  And as he says, it's a relative to arthritis.

Could be gout. Do you take meds for high blood pressure?
