Hi Lola,
My Internist in La Jolla said he would have recommended it, if my case hadn't been so severe. The issue is that I just don't have plain old garden variety D, I have explosive D, which places it in another category altogether. I will, however, keep this in mind.
I have microscopic colitis as well. I used marshmallow root for many years for what you describe, but it also helps to heal the digestive tract. It's natural and I too have taken the off label cholesterol meds that another poster mentioned, but I would rather do something natural.

Good morning, @sfnative . I am sorry you are suffering with this problem. My favorite go-to when I experience minor food poisoning (either from lack of refrigeration or insuffient heating), is no longer Imodium A-D, but coconut milk from So Delicious. I drink two 8 oz glasses of it, immediately, and I find that it does just as much for me as the other product. I believe it is likely more healthy for me, too. For a time, I couldn't eat out at any restaurants without having a problem. It all started on my honeymoon in Hawaii, many years ago, when I ate buffet style food. Coconut works well against many pathogens (proven in actual studies on Pubmed), and I believe that is why it is so successful for me. I always keep some in my frig. I wish the best for you. Have you tried a probiotic capsule of some sort to try to crowd out the bad germs that are plaguing your gut yet? If not, that might help you, too.

Why don't you see a naturopathic physician, who specializes in GI issues. I live in a small state, and even we have many....some even covered by insurance. Regular MD's (especially specialists) prescribe what they've been taught. It becomes like an assembly line of 15 minute visits - a prescription or a test, and no results. Why? Regular MD's don't think outside the box. They don't take into consideration other causes (like SIBO or parasites), which naturopathic doctors do. Just a thought......
