Re: More on the dry eye subject..

Biology is not particularly kind to women. It is very common to have dry eyes when your estrogen levels decline. Restasis works very well for me during the day, then also omega 3 and at night Thera Tears also in vials however very viscose. I also drink water with lemon. The eye loves everything cold. I keep all my eye drops in the fridge.

It is also useful to change your focal distance, to blink and to close your eyes from time to time and use more viscose eye drops if needed.

Medication can also cause dry eyes and dry mouth. There is no need to panic when in doubt a complete hemogram can reveal inflammation and thus any reumatoid or autoimmune disease; however Sjogren's syndrome is rare unless there is a genetic component.

A good ophtalmologist will address the opposite issue sometimes surgery is inevitable but local anestesia will suffice.🌻

My co-workers are always asking me if I'm crying because of the constant watering.  I've tried everything imaginable with very little success.  The most releif I get is when I use nighttime ointment instead of drops.  I'm in front of a computer all day long which is a major contributor to the problem and I also have cats so allergies play a factor too.

Edited to add that I'm menopausal and don't recall this issue prior to menopause.

@straykatz, I too, am in front of a computer, have cats and am post menopausal.  It stinks but I look forward to seeing this specialist to see what he does about my narrow tear ducts. I can't believe I have to wait two more months. I should own stock in Kleenex! I'm sick of it!

I love my family, my fur boys, my Jayhawks and accounting!
