I used to drink a few cups of tea every day. Then, the concerns regarding toxic heavy metals came to light.
A great many teas are contaminated with lead and arsenic, and other toxic chemicals, and I decided to stop drinking tea. It was easier than trying to figure out what was the safest to drink.
I have endocrine issues and try to stay away from as many possible disruptors as possible. Right now, I mostly just drink filtered water.

I drink coffee in the mornings only and then tea or iced tea the remainder of the day and my cholesterol is consistantly low.

Thanks @Noel7 for the update on tea. I am going to send the news to my children because having a mom with such early cardiac issues they may benefit from this. I worry about both of them with my lousy genetics.
Myself, I have interstitial cystitis and I cannot drink tea. I wish I could because the few times I indulge in a cup, I find it soothing....

Hi John,
They aren't saying not to drink coffee, just that it's a neutral, meaning it hasn't been found to hurt or help with cardiovascular issues.
FYI: You might remember that I posted the same findings a couple of years ago from the American Heart Association about tea. This study only reinforces what the Heart Association has been saying for several years now.
@Noel7 you did, I remember. It was around the time I started getting into tea (discovered Teavana!) so I was interested in that study.

HI @Mj12
Thanks, and what a good memory you have! ![]()
As I recall, the American Heart Association listed 40 things to eat/drink that are heart healthy. I'd have to look it up again, but they had tea on their list and a paragraph about how it was a benefit.
Salmon was on the list too. Every time I see a list of healthy things for us to eat, salmon is on it.

I love whole leaf teavana teas, looking for less exspensive whole leaf brands.
