I've been on it for over a year but when I got to 2000 mg a day I began to have huge gastro issues so I am at 850 mg twice a day.  I've lost about 20 pounds so far but need to lose more.  It is possible if you get close to your ideal body weight you may not need the medication anymore.  You just have to keep checking your sugar daily and keep control of how many carbs you're eating.

These days, there is almost no education done in the office and no referral to a dietitian.  I was give a pamphlet and told to read the ADA dietary guidelines, that is the state of medicine today.  It's mostly self-learn now - little to no assistance.  I even had to figure out a meter I could afford along with how to get the test strips myself, no recommendation or direction on any of that (and I have excellent insurance, nobody at my PCP's office was interested in helping me, just slapped a diabetes type 2 diagnoses on me and sent me home).

I am taking trulicty, but the cost is just so high, each time i order it is $359.00, i have aarp supplement plan,and medicare, just keep trying to figure out why neither is payingfor it ,may have to go back to medforman,it use to just mess my stomach up.

I was diagnosed in November 2019.  I started on Metformin but that alone did not bring my numbers down so my doctor added Trulicity.  I also got no education from my doctor but since I took care of my dad who was a diabetic,  I had a good understanding of how to manage it.  I have lost 25 pounds since November 2020 and I am hoping to lose more and eventually lessen my need for medication.
