@hckynutjohn    I only heard CU was dropping the tests. I know nothing yet about how their admissions process will change. Personally, I am not in favor of dropping standards, but I don't know that will happen. Wait and see.

Her anxiety is mostly school related.  Grades, college (she's a junior is HS), SAT's, etc.  And also some social anxiety.  i called several new places today.  They only work with adults.  The other problem is hours, one place closes at 2 pm.  My daughter will have even more anxiety if I had to keep taking her out of school for sessions.

@ScrapHappy

This is not meant as a substitute for your daughter getting professional help. Wanted to let you know that before I say anything else.

Have you looked into any of the types of Mental uses like Relaxation Responses or other forms of Meditation? For many this is something they practice on a regular basis, be it daily, or some other schedule.

I had a good friend that was close to my age, and he could never relax. I am talking his body or his mind. He talked himself into thinking he always had to be doing something.

Finally talked with him and he told me that was the way his parents lived. Never relaxing, and everything to them was an emergency.

When he was around me, I made sure we sat around and discussed hockey/auto racing, and things we both had very high interests. He might not have realized it, but we were kicking back and relaxing.

Really hope you can find someone to help your daughter with these issues. I can personally relate, but that was much later in my life. Best wishes for getting the necessary help.

@ScrapHappy   I hope you have been able to find someone. Just wanted to let you know that Columbia University announced yesterday it's dropping SAT or ACT requirements permanently. It may be the beginning of a trend.

The waiting lists for therapists in my area were so long CVS started an in-drugstore therapist program. I don't know if they're still doing it. If you have CVS nearby, check their website.

Also, look up the NASW office in your state. Call them and ask for names of LCSWs in your area.

I think we may have found someone.  I want my daughter to read her profile on line and see if she'd feel comfortable with her.  It's not just a matter of finding someone, I also need to find flexible hours and this therapist works later in the evening, with teens & occassional Saturdays.

We've gone on 2 college tours.  Both have mentioned SAT/ACT.  If you have a certain grade point average, then submitting your SAT/ACT is optional.  My daughter has a  high GPA so not worried about that.  But the 2 major colleges in my area that everyone wants to get into to, still requires those scores regardless.

Thanks for the information.

Many drs are leaving the profession completely. I can't believe DH and I have both had more than one of our drs retire, leave medicine , or move out of state. Finding new ones is harder than it should be. Am still trying to find an orthopedist for DH who is within 50 miles of where we live and will take new patients.

I would check the websites for support groups for your daughter's issues. I know it is not a one on one therapist but sometimes people need to talk to other people who have the same problems.

@ScrapHappy My daughter had a similar issue as a Sr. in high school. The school district provided a homebound tutor to finish the year. This removed a good amount of the stress.
