@kingtut. I would definitely change something. Becoming more assertive might help.

@pdlinda That medicare 'nurse' did the same with me when I signed up. I had a conversation with my PCP about this and he actually laughed. He told me those 'nurses' cannot do anything for us, they know nothing about us nor our med history, they cannot write out prescriptions. And the one I talked to was almost rude about 'needing' to see her. It's pretty much a scam.

@kingtut I would change doctors if it was me. I thought by law they are required to give you the results of any tests you take if you request them. I know when I get bloodwork done I tell the lab to also send the results to me along with the doctor. I can also go onto the doctor's portal and see results of all tests done.

Medicare patients helps keep medical practices in business. You are entitled to a copy of your records. Please find yourself a new primary care doctor.

@ALRATIBA I just got home a few minutes ago from my annual physical, including a wellness test. Your former PCP is right. May I please have his/her name?!

My former PCP gave me the best advice .... avoid doctors unless you are sick or injured.

Surely some of you remember when our president annouced that he had taken an intelligence test a few months back. He said because he could count backwards from 100, and draw a face on a clock, etc., that it proved he was highly intelligent. He had taken the Medicare Wellness test, just like the rest of us.

I'm 76. Only reason I go to those annual Medicare wellness visits is to have dr. write all my prescriptions for the coming year. I see specialists for any true medical problem during the year.

Maybe it is more relevant for older Seniors, but I didn't see any benefit....
I felt like I took up the Drs time when he could have been seeing someone who really needed to be seen..
@Nataliesgramma These visits are a a waste of Medicare money IMO and a good money maker for the Dr's and Ins. Co. I refuse them and I will not answer their questions.

I too had my first one this year (hit 65) and I thought it was worthless! Mine was done by a nurse, then I was sent back out into the lobby waiting for my name to be called to back to see the doctor. The appointment was over an hour. Is this something done every year?

Yes, this is done every year. The wellness exam has two purposes. One, to possibly catch a medical problem early and two, save Medicare some money.
