Hello, does Medicare pay for Shingrix in full, and for both doses, many thanks.

Yes, they do cover a portion of it.

My DH just went to Wegmans for the first dose, he is on Med, and he still owed $50. They said Med only pays in full if you have Part D,or the Med Adv. Plan which we dont have. We have a supp with Care First.

It depends on your plan. I have a Medicare Advantage Plan through HAP. I paid $38 each for the series of two Shingrix vaccines.

It is covered as a part of your Part D plan.
The out of pocket amount will vary by plan.

Regular traditional Medicare Part A and Part B do NOT cover the shingles vaccine.
If you have RX coverage with Medicare Part D, it might cover all or part of your vaccine. In addition, if you have a Medicare Advantage Plan, it could be covered.
Since all Medicare Advantage Plans and RX plans are different, you will need to call your insurance company to see if you have coverage.

Hi there -- I have Medicare and supplemental and when I got my Shingrix shot at Rite Aid three weeks ago, I had to pay $107. Then I got some kind of a coupon which I assume will pay for the second shot. Has to be at least two months after the first shot, so I'm going to get it with my flu shot in the Fall. Got DTap and pneumonia #2 shot at same time as shingles and paid nothing for those. They did two shots in one arm and one in the other and boy was I sore, but glad to have them all up-to-date! HTH

Medicare does not pay for Shingrix. Secondary will pay. However, I have Unirted Healthcare from AARP and Shingrix is considered a 3rd Tier drug with a 350 deductible. Therefore it cost me $141 for each of the 2 injections out of pocket at Sams Club.

@Shelbelle Ours payed for most of it. If you can, do get the shots. Money well spent as my husband can attest. He had shingles and is still suffering with neuralgia paid approx. 1.5 years after his outbreak. So, beg, borrow or steal the cost.
