I was on one of those high deductible plans through my employer before I retired. I never even came close to meeting my deductible. Since I am now retired and on Medicare my out of pocket costs are really low. Of course I pay the Medicare premium, plus I am on an Advantage plan. I pay nothing for the Advantage plan. There are copays, but a lot of items are free.
So far all of my presciptions are free. The highest copay for a doctors visit is $40, this is for a specialist. I know a lot of people complain about medicare, but what I am paying in premium each month is a lot less than what I paid when I was working. The highest copay I have paid is $225 for a procedure I had done at an outpatient facility.
