Our medical insurance premiums have gotten so high priced we might not beable to have insurance. Iam 3 yrs from medicare and my husband is 4 yrs. They are more then our house payment per month and we just can't afford it anymore. Everything is getting so high priced. How do people do it?

Is your insurance through an employer? If not, have you looked into the affordable care act marketplace? I just lost my health insurance due to not having enough hours at work. Because I make so much less than I did before the pandemic, I get a subsidy which makes it affordable.

I paid over 1,200 a month for my insurance and it only covered 70%. We used up 3/4 of the money we saved in hubby's 401K to pay it. He is older than me by a few years and got on Medicare.

One of my gal pals opted for a high deductable and lower payments because she was healthy and in good shape.

She fell on ice and broke her arm in 2 places and needed surgery. Had to pay the deductable and 8,000 out of pocket. She had to make payment arrangements with the hospital and her hubby had to get a parttime job.

We have a very high deductable also. We own our own business andstill can't afford it. Ours is over 1300 a month, I don't know how people do it. Since covid we are hanging on.Business is not what it used to be. But we still take in too much for the AHC

Pressure has to be put on our congressional representatives to get moving on getting these costs lowered substantially. Drug costs, medical costs, and hospitalization charges are completely out of whack. We seem to be the only developed country with these problems.

This is not a political problem. It is a corporate greed problem that affects every one of us.

I was on one of those high deductible plans through my employer before I retired.  I never even came close to meeting my deductible.   Since I am now retired and on Medicare my out of pocket costs are really low.   Of course I pay the Medicare premium, plus I am on an Advantage plan.    I pay nothing for the Advantage plan.  There are copays, but a lot of items are free.

So far all of my presciptions are free.   The highest copay for a doctors visit is $40, this is for a specialist.   I know a lot of people complain about medicare, but what I am paying in premium each month is a lot less than what I paid when I was working.   The highest copay I have paid is $225 for a procedure I had done at an outpatient facility.

We were wondering how much we will have to pay for supplemental Ins when DH retires. Right now he can get Medicare but I'm not 65 so he's still working.

I know my MIL only has Medicare with no supplemental. She broke her hip in Apr but has not received any large bills for it. From what DH says she has not paid much at all for her surgery???

Same with my FIL when he was in the hospital plus hospice. No bills?

If you do not qualify for the Affordable Care insurance, check your state's insurance pool.  Some states provide insurance alternatives. If none can be found, I would chose a high deductible plan rather than no insurance at all.

We have a high deducitble plan right now and the cost is terrible. It is more then our house payment.
