@deja vu -
They are not the "hot" either

Yes it helps, no it doesn’t take all pain away—- but pain is lessened imo. I still have to take anti inflammatory meds.
Yes, very expensive $500 + a month, in NYC. I do take a lot, 4 long acting capsules daily. I do not get high at all from marijuana.
In NYS no limit on amount — up to MD to decide. No annual fee. Pharmacist helps in determining ratio of ingredients.
As was stated, it only works on 50% of patients, takes
at least several weeks of daily use to access efficacy.
My pain has gone from 8-9 to 5-6 overall.

@deja vu If you are able to retain it, please do not smoke it. Smoke will destroy your lungs and breathing. I honestlhy do not understand why it is available to smoke since cigarette smoking is the worst thing for you.

I totally agree, I hate smoke in general...my mother smoked all of our lives, pregnant no exceptions. She never let a cig go out without lighting another one off of it.....seems like such a contradiction to smoke anything for your health....on the other hand if I had no other option and absolutely nothing else while knowing my pain...I'd smoke it, eat it, whatever it took...
That's the reason I'd prefer medical, so I could get edible forms of what I needed for my issues..

Medical Marijuana recently became available in PA, but it it is so expensive, not many people can afford it.
It is not covered by insurance anywhere and it is still illegal in USA...federal law.. even though some states allow it.
There is a list of diagnosis that someone must have to get it prescribed and only certain doctors are allowed to prescribe.
PA is considering recreational marijuana. If they do, I am sure the cost will go down.
I don't know if or how it works for pain.

I have a friend who is an APRN. She said it works for some but doesn't work for a lot of people. I saw a segment on the local news where a panel of doctors from the AMA agree more research is necessary to determine effectiveness and long term use hazards. I don't know much about it though. A bill to legalize it advanced out of committee in our state but didn't get a vote this session.

If Moonchilde were here she would be able to answer your questions
I once asked her if they made in in a patch form, and she said they did. I have never taken drugs in my life. However ,if I had pain issues I would try this rather than opioids, which are giving people so many problems

Yes, marijuana will help with the pain and will help you sleep--and may keep one off of the dangerous pain meds. Unlike pain meds, marijuana will not give you a hangover or cause addiction. No one has ever overdosed or died from smoking marijuana. I am 64 years old & been smoking it for 46 years. I do advise my doctors (I have Kaiser as my health care provider) that I smoke it. In fact when I had ankle replacement surgery (due to severe arthritis) a few years ago the surgeon asked how had I managed the pain for all the years and I told him that I smoke a couple of joints each night after I get home from work. The only medical issues I have at 64 years old is hypertension and I take a low dose of losartan for it. I truly believe that marijuana use has helped keep me healthy. I hope soon that it will be legal in all states. Its hard to believe that alcohol is legal and OK to use to relax and take the edge off when everyone knows that alcohol (and tobacco) is so harmful-destroys lives and families and even deadly for so many reasons--but use of marijuana is not harmful but illegal (in most states) But all states won't legalise marijuana because one might get smoke it to relax or take the edge off. Just crazy!

I'm glad to hear it has been so helpful for you...and I have to agree with you. My dh also partakes in it since he was a teen most evenings....and pretty much all evenings since 4 yrs ago when his daughter was killed. He is 60 and only some hypertension, and occasional Gout from his not so healthy eating habits....
I think about it a lot because I never went that route and now wish I had, even though I don't like smoke. go figure.. thx
