Re: MRSA Recovery, Now More Woes

Vivian, my thoughts are prayers are with you.  I remember when my father had melanoma, they gave him a 5 year, till all clear.  I'm hoping that very soon this will all be behind you, and that you will be planning a trip where something French is involved.

Do the math.

Re: MRSA Recovery, Now More Woes

Thanks again to everyone! I see the oncologist on 1/8 but my gastroenterologist, who has helped in my recovery from intestinal MRSA, said that the size of the lesions are small and very likely not serious. He thinks at most they'll do an MRI every 3-6 months for awhile. I have spoken to SO many doctors who all say it is likely not a serious health problem BUT because I had melanoma 15 years ago it would be prudent, and would do no harm, to consult with the oncologist. My Yale doctor was great. He wrote me a long email with his opinion and agreed seeing the oncologist is a good idea, just in case. I even found the surgeon who operated on my melanoma in 2001, now retired, and he agreed with the many others I consulted...from various parts of NY, to Connecticut, even to Maine, where I spoke to our friend, a retired ER doc frat brother of my husband. By current count I will have spoken to 8 doctors by Jan 8 and will actually have seen more than half of them. I think that's enough!

Re: MRSA Recovery, Now More Woes

Hi Vivian,

My biggest fear when I go to the hospital is getting a MRSA infection.  My immune system needs to be repressed due to my autoimmune diseases, so an infection like that would probably not be cured by any antibiotic as my immune system would not be able to fight it.

I am hopeful that you will continue to be able to kill this infection completely and it seems that you are heading that way.  I send my best thoughts to you.  You have a lot to handle right now for sure.

Please keep us advised, this is worrisome.
