I know of several cases where back surgery did not work!  Two of them ended up hooked on oxycodone after the surgery!

A local Doctor's ad states that most of his cases are from other FAILED back surgeries.  Been proven!

Back surgeries that are unsuccessful are usually so because the patient does not do as they are instructed. They don't go to PT or only make a half hearted effort. Most failed back surgeries are due to scar tissue that forms when the person is not active and doesn't do the work to make their core strong. Lying around in bed is NOT how a person should get over ANY surgery.

I would never understand why anyone would want to spend the rest of their life taking narcotic pain pills that become less and less effective instead of having the surgery and fixing the problem if that is offered. But if that is how you want to live..... addicted to drugs and dependant on pain doctors - well it's your life.

Who, precisely, are you speaking to here, @151949? Who is "you"?

The biggest risk of back surgery: Not knowing for sure if it’s going to help with your pain. The best thing you can do is talk openly with your surgeon so he knows what’s going on with your health and you know what to expect.
