Glad the test was reassuring.  The world is different once we enter this roller coaster isn't it?

Re: Lung scan update

[ Edited ]

Good Morning All,

Thank you so much for your prayers and support.  I saw a wonderful pulmonologist yesterday.  He is very kind, gentle, compassionate and knowledgeable.  He said the fact that it took 18 year to grow a little bit is something of an anomoly.  But, the fact that it grew and was hypermetabolic on the PET scan means it cannot be ignored.  He shared everything with colleagues across the country and they were all flabbergasted that it took so many years to grow.  It is also very close to my heart so I will be having an echocardiogram to see if it is attached to my heart, which we hope it is not.  Following that, I will have a bronchosopy and biopsy.  This will all be happening soon. I also have a newly diagnosed condition in which my body makes too many blood cells so every few weeks my hemotologist, aka The Vampire, drains about a pint of blood from me.  While I'm somewhat comforted knowing I have excellent doctors who are coordinating with one another, I'm still terrified and am so very grateful for all the prayers and support for me.  I will keep you posted as things progress.  God bless all of you.

Hi All,
I promised an update and although there is nothing new to report, I finally have a date for my biopsy. It will be Wednesday, August 28. Of course I'm terrified, but have to do what I have to do. I'll let you know as soon as I have results. I truly believe in the power of prayer 🙏 and am very grateful to all of you who are keeping me in your prayers. God bless you all.

Not that it mirrors exactly what you're going through, but my dear sister has hematomachrosis (maybe spelled that wrong) too much iron in her blood and has to give up a pint or two every so often.

Her husband had a spot on his lung a year ago and they did a lung re-section and his is doing awesome.

Your doctors have been watching it and now it's time to do something.  They know so much more now than they did a decade or so ago.  I'm sure you will do fine with whatever they have to do.Heart

Thank you for your uplifting words.  I'm so glad your husband is doing so well.

I have something akin to what your sister has.  My condition is called polycythemia vera.  My bone marrow makes too many blood cells and I am under the care of a hematologist.  Every month, he will take some blood tests and will draw a pint or more of blood from me.  It was discovered by my family doctor doing routine blood tests.  He noticed that the hematocrit, and some other things kept rising which is a sign of this disease.  I feel blessed because left untreated, all that extra blood can cause clots and lead to strokes, etc..

As soon as I have biopsy results, I will post.  I thank everyone for their kind thoughts and prayers.

@docsgirl

I just saw your posts.
I'm praying for you. I know you're terrified.

May I suggest, if you have a furry cat or dog, please hold them on your lap, it will help to calm you, if you don't have one, borrow, rescue or adopt, it really does help.

I'm praying for you and wish you peace and wellness. xxx
