I have recently discovered a new soda that I'm liking very much. Being diabetic, I get tired of/bored with "the usual" diet sodas and am always hoping to find decent alternatives.

These are called Diabolo - they are "French soda" type drinks. They aren't zero-calorie, zero-carb, but for soda they are very low carb. A can is 16 oz, which many people wouldn't drink all at once. 8 oz (half the can) is only 9 carbs; a full can only 18 carbs. Since 15 carbs and under is considered not to affect the BG of most people, and 15 grams or lower are considered freebie snacks by the ADA, that's not bad.

They are not carbonated as much as Coke, etc. They are also not as sweet as typical soft drinks, but for me they are "sweet enough" (and I like sweet). They're refreshing and thirst-quenching.

They have an "energy" version I haven't seen. The current regular flavors are Tangerine Pomegranate, Dragonfruit Plum, Mint Lemonade and Blueberry Lemonade. I love the first two.

The website is drinkdiabolo dotcom

@Renata22, I found it in a chain of stores that are only in Northern California. I'd never heard of or seen it before.

Smart & Final stores carry it, Bristol Farms, Sprouts, some 7-11s, many gas stations lol, lots of small specialty markets, some BevMos.  Of all the stores that carry it, it seems it's up to the store - not all stores in a chain will have it, only some of them. There are plenty of Walmarts in my area, but none of them are listed as having it.

7 grams of sugar, 2 of erythritol per serving. Two servings per can.

Thanks for sharing....Sounds good, but I prefer 0 carbs. (I'm really super strict about staying really low carb). I prefer Cherry Coke Zero. They're yummy!

It's not something I'm going to switch to for all my soda drinking, but it's a tasty couple of times a week alternative.

There is a dividing line between super low carbers and everyone else. More power to those who can maintain it - I prefer to be "lowest do-able", for myself. It's more important for me to find a carb amount I can live with long term than going as low as it's possible to go.

Wow! 18 carbs a can is not that low it would have to be a once in a while treat, but the flavors really sound unique and tasty.

Have you ever tried Waist Watchers soda?  It is really good and has zero carbs, zero sodium and zero caffeine if you choose a non-cola flavor.  The black cherry is my favorite flavor. If I have any in the house, my DH drinks it nonstop unless I hide it.

I've never seen or heard of it in CA.

The 18 carbs is for a 16 oz can, not a 12 oz can. An 8 oz glass is only 9 carbs.  More than zero, true, but also not marketed as "diet" soda, just low calorie. MUCH lower calorie than a regular soda.
