Re: Lost my husband to complications of Alzheimers

I am so saddened to hear of your loss, @chihuahuamom.

AD is sometimes described as "the long goodbye" and truer words have never been spoken. It is a horrendous illness, devastates families, and robs them of precious quality time together.

When my mom was first diagnosed she was so fearful. Just as it was hard for Mom, it was hard for our family to see this woman become someone we did not recognize. She never got to the stage where we were unrecognizable to her, thankfully.

Please take care of yourself, @chihuahuamom. Your husband was so fortunate to have you at his side while he went on this final journey. With the passing of time you will come to see that you are a loyal, strong and loving woman.  Great loss evolves from great love. In time the love will overcome the loss that you feel now.

@chihuahuamom I feel so bad for you knowing he got it at a young age.  Can't help but wonder if football head injuries played a part.
