I looked up Trisodium phosphate on the a-dot-com site, intrigued by the info about it helping excess lactic acid build-up in the body; but all I found are cleansers like Krud Kutter. Yum, wanna put that in the ol' bod! lol Rather disconcerting to think of that stuff going into our bodies, I must say. I am old enough to remember when food was food without many fillers or chemicals in them. Now I sometimes read a label, and I wonder what part of the item that looks like food, is actually real food? My dh & I both seem to be much more repelled by processed foods now-a-days. Go to eat a cookie, and it just tastes like chemicals. Eww. At least I don't eat many cookies anymore. None of that stuff tastes the way it used to, now that they add so many chemicals and preservatives.

Thanks for the original post. It is smart for us to open up a dialogue about these issues, from time to time. Will I refuse to eat Cheerios because of it? Probably not. It's too late for me by now! But I tend to eat fresher foods (at least that is my goal) and not all the processed stuff, which just doesn't appeal to me anymore, convenient or not.

TSP is not considered toxic to the human body... Whiskey, on the other hand...IS!

Maybe you should look up the health benefits of whiskey.

I stopped eating Raisin Bran after reading:

BHT and BHA are banned in almost every other country EXCEPT for the US and BHA is considered a possible carcinogen by the World Health Organization and listed as a carcinogen in California! This should be a huge red flag. (The fact that it is banned from being used in baby food because it causes hyperactivity in children is also a red flag!)

Cheerios do not contain this ... but if you switch to another cereal, check out the "preservatives" such as BHT/BHA. Plain oatmeal is deemed "safe."
