Phillips has several units to choose from GPs transmitters that have speaker phones right on the pendants and do not need to be connected to landline phones and the more traditional fixed units that are for use inside your home. Phillips units do have a feature that can be activated by a fall. But those usually come at extra expense. the GPS units are not for those who are not technologically savvy at least somewhat as they must be charged when they battery runs down. where as the older standard units have batteries that will last for years and do not have to be charged. so if the person does not remember to charge the unit. It does them no good. Also contact your state or county's aging services division and ask if they have any programs to cover the cost of these units. You might be surprised. Hope this Helps.
