I have not. I don't think most doctors routinely prescribe it or feel comfortable with it though the studies show it's effective for depression. It's just high risk for abuse so it's administered in a clinic setting from what I understand.

Coming from a medical background, my familiarity is it's use by anesthesiologists during medical procedures. It's similar to Propofol...too risky for addiction or substance abuse. Not sure what medical expers say about it's use for depression.

@gellen

I have been on several anti depression meds since the mid '90s, but no way I would take that stuff. My nephew is an Anesthesiologist(an MD) and told me, if any doctor mentions it to me, say he!! NO!

  This was used  on wounded Vet's in Vietnam . I vaguely remember  some reserach articles abt Ketamine in the late 1970's. I would not take this med !!!

It's used for sedation for starting & maintaining anesthesia. Not prescribed for depression. Seek your MD for advise vs. here.

Ketamine:

Used as a date rape drug by nefarious creeps for decades, for that reason alone, I think it should be far less available.

My brother went for ketamine treatment for his depression. He described it as an explosiion in his head like he heard was similar to an lsd trip. He had 3 treatments. It did not work. He took his life a few months later.
