@Trailrun23 I would call your PCP office, speak to them, explain the delay and lack of response you experienced. Tell them how you were ignored and explain the urgency. They have more power than patients. Wishing you good results.

Go to the office and bring as much factual information with you as possible.

Make sure referrals or insurance approvals are already in place, as needed.

Something doesn't sound right. MD's don't as a practice ignore patients. Call your PCP.

Speaking from my own experience, trying to get in to see your primary care doctor is like pulling teeth.

@Trailrun23  How about you just show up at the office when they open and deal with them directly as someone else mentioned?

You sure wouldn't be any worse off than you are now.

It's a crappy situation for sure. I'd be on their doorstep.

Sorry you are dealing with this. I know what a pain it can be. Hope you can find the help you need.

If you went to the ER & it's an emergency they should call the doctor to get you in ASAP. I know this doesn't always happen?

My brothers eye doctor found a brain tumor. He went straight to his doctor's office from his eye doctor's office. He's was admitted to the hospital for further tests.

My BIL went to his doctor in pain. He needed emergency appendix surgery. His doctor told him to go to the ER where he would get help faster?

Another brother went to the ER 3 days in a row several times each day trying to get help. He's a previous stroke patient. He knew something was wrong. Nobody at the ER would help him. They kept telling him to go home he was fine. They did do a few tests just not the right ones? In the end they listed Dementia in his records? He never did get the help he needed. He ended up back in the ER by ambulance. He had a stroke. They did nothing. They have no doctor to prescribe some pill they give to dissolve the clot or do surgery to remove it. They didn't have a doctor that could do the surgery either. They sent him by ambulance to Ga? He's no longer with us since nobody would help him.

I agree with @redstar8, something is not right. Any surgeon we ever dealt with had a number to call anytime after the surgery ( even months later) to get in touch with his office almost immediately. Call the doctor who recommended the surgeon. They can usually help. If this does not work and you feel it is an emergency go to the er, do not ignore the problem.

Re: Just trying to get a drs appointment!

@Nightowlz, very sad to read your post. I knew someone with stroke symptoms who went to the ER and they did a CT scan, said nothing was wrong and she was sent home. Needless to say, her symptoms worsened and when she went back to the ER the following day they did an MRI. She had suffered a brainstem stroke. She was then hospitalized and needed long-term rehab therapy. These things should NEVER happen but they do.

Re: Just trying to get a drs appointment!

I had trouble getting in touch with a specialist my doctor wanted me to see. I went to the office and literally pounded on the recptionist's desk before anyone would pay attention to me.

I'm sure I didn't make myself popular by doing that (I didn't yell or raise my voice or swear) but sometimes you have to do what you have to do.
