Just had the pin taken out of my toe

Was told it would be a local to take the pin out after bunion surgery last summer. Well, was told I would get something "light" because the shot for the local was painful, and the next thing I knew I was waking up in recovery (I was in an outpatient surgery center). I know the pin removal was only 5 minutes or so, but did not plan to be totally "gone". I am not very happy about it. I was throwing up a bit afterwards. Wanted to avoid being put under for that very reason. What do you think? I am home but not feeling so good-not from foot pain but I think the anesthesia.
