Do any of you or anyone you know eat food to reduce joint pain and inflammation? Does it work?
I have inflammation and looked up online lists of foods to eat to reduce it and to help joint pain also.
I am hoping it will work well ![]()

I"d buy a good quality turmeric--make sure it has black pepper in it--(bioperine) Mix it in with a bit of olive oil for better absorption. I used to buy New Chapter turmeric, but I don't believe it has the black pepper in it--necessary for proper absorption.
Omega 3's are good for reducing inflammation. Avoid any sugars, processed foods and too many high-sugar fruits. Stick to leaner proteins and low glycemic index vegetables. nuts, seeds, etc. are also good depending upon your diet.
celery
beets
broccoli
walnuts, etc.
garlic
onions
dark green leafy vegetables
olive oil
high fat fish-naturally occuring fats due to omegas
no vegetable oil, no high sugar fruits, no dairy, no fatty processed meats, refined grains--avoid all of these.
I bought FINEVINE turmeric recently.
hope this helps
I, too, am on an antinflammatory diet due to my eczema

Agree w/ @winamac1 re: the turmeric and black pepper, which I use in capsule form (turmeric), as well as sprinkling a hefty amount on my salads each day. Besides this, a good over-all healthy diet, which means low in sugar.
Also, try a collagen supplement. The powder form works great, but not all powders are tolerable in taste. I get NuNaturals (from Wegmans).
I feel and am very supple, and I know it's due to this "prescription."

I follow one of the Paleo eating plans, Primal Blueprint. It works.
I also take a lot of supplements for joints, but if I go off my eating plan, my knee (among other things), lets me know right away.

Although I do not follow a strictly Mediterranean diet, it is probably the closest to what I actually eat. I was diagnosed with a highly-inflammatory disease called scleroderma. I had to learn to eat food all over again. I know a diet that is high in refined carbs and sugar is what I stay away from. I also got rid of cheese (highly inflammatory) from my diet...that was so hard to do.
For me it wasn't so much about what to eat, but rather what foods to eliminate from my diet. Once I got that part right then the next thing was to get my gut in good shape by promoting the good bacteria in it. When you do this, everything else seems to get better.

I worked with my dietitian/nutritionist on this and it worked wonders!!!
I was in fear of a terrible diagnosis was in my furture, I was really scared.
Working with her gave me a clear plan and I am happy to say I am 100% joint pain free (unless I eat things I should not).
If you can work with someone with the skill set to help you I say GO FOR IT!!!!

I do! Since last November I have been eating good fats (limited amounts), fresh or frozen vegetables, fruits and lean protein. No grains or refined anything other than some oatmeal for breakfast. No sugar. My joint pain is gone, my joint swelling is gone and I have lost 47 pounds! You know what is the best? Being able to wear most of the rings in my jewelry collection again. Now some of that is due to weight loss but my finger joints are definitely reduced in size.

I forgot to say that my hard cheese consumption is minimal as well. I LOVE cheese so that was hard to give up!

Would I also have to eliminate cottage cheese? It is one of my favorite sources of protein. Thanks!
