To OP and others with chronic pain: ask your doctor if a referral to Pain Management Specialist is a possibility. DH has many issues and has been on many different meds for over 12 yrs including maximum legal dose of Hydrocodone (a narcotic). Arizona is mandating that those on this level be seemed off to lower level ( impossible if you are in debilitating pain). DH got referral to pain specialist and its been life changing. He only needs a small portion of the Hydrocodone; they have supplemented it with other things and he has an appointment monthly. There is a pee test monthly because they don't want him even inadvertently overdosing on prescribed combo. Clearly, this isn't for everyone but if you are in chronic pain, its worked well for him.

@proudlyfromNJ , same here. Even when our governor talks about the vaccine and the various phases, he always states "for those who want it".

Is marijuana legal where you live? Or how about trying some type of CBD oil or gummy or something?
Of course until you figure out what is going on.

Is there a possiblity of it being some kind of nerve damage from the needle hitting something it shouldn't have? I am wishing you well and hope your problem can be solved and you get on the road to recovery.

Never heard of this type of thing before from getting a shot in the arm. I certainly have no idea what might be causing it, but hopefully your doctor can get to the source of what's causing your pain.
Never been one that has been on any prescription pain meds very long. Most of them I got filled I kept for my wife from the pains she had many times, post 1 of her many abdominal surgeries.
Just took an 8hr. Tylenol, which I only take a couple hours before I go ice skating. The 2 hours on the ice at times is a problem from my 2 back surgeries the removed 3 of my Lumbar Discs.
Think the cold air also tightens the muscles at times. Once I get on the ice I do not sit down till I am done, and taking off my skates. Thinking about it, just standing for 2 hours would tighten my back up for sure. So I guess doing the same on skinny blades makes sense to me.
Hope you find some answers and get relief from your pain.

@proudlyfromNJ I have to disagree, at least for the media I'm seeing. Dr. Fauci is really pushing the get the vaccine for herd immunity. And, locally, I'm also seeing a big push that more people need to get the vaccine, while at the same time, we have a shortage of vaccine. I don't know why they don't just worry about getting the vaccine to the people who are clamboring for it and stop with the push until there is plenty available for everybody. Also, one of our lawmakers has introduced a bill to protect people from being coerced into getting the vaccine.

@Group 5 minus 1 wrote:I am allergic to morphine /codeine type pain meds. If I take I throw up, see creepy crawlys. So I do not take any of the above. Tramadol (first time I took it I was so sick I had to miss work.
@Group 5 minus 1 the first and only time I have taken Tramadol was before getting on a 4 hour flight. OMG! I was so sick. Things were tingling, nausea, heart racing, sweating.
The problem I have with a lot of narcotic pain meds is that they just make me sleepy, but they really don't address the pain. You can still feel the pain while asleep. It just manifests in your dreams. Or, you lay there in a semi-conscious, semi-awake and in pain state.
OP, I have a stash of pain medications too. I was really glad I did awhile back when I came down with what I and my doctor believed over the phone was a kidney stone. I told him what I had and he told me to take it since it was a weekend and nighttime so he couldn't call a prescription in for me. Besides, I probably wouldn't have been able to get it filled before the next day anyways.
I hope your doctor is able to address your problem. I know I get a lot of bad headaches and I do worry about taking OTC pain meds too often for them too, so sometimes I just suffer through it. Apparently, you can get a rebound effect like with nasal sprays even with OTC pain meds.

I'm so sorry, @SXMGirl. I hope you can get some help with this tomorrow at your dr apt. If they can't help you, I'd ask to be referred somewhere else, although I'm not sure just where.

I'm so sorry for your suffering. I hope you can get all this figured out and get relief soon.
I cannot take pain meds for long and some I can't take at all. I fell and broke my arm in several places Jan of 2019. I didn't have surgery for 3 weeks and was on pain meds all that time. I lost 20 pounds because I was so sick from the meds. It also seems the more I take them the more I can't handle them the next time I need them.

@happycat I will be insisting on a referral somewhere. If this is a pinched nerve, then probably my ortho. Other than that, I have no idea.
@Lali1 I am just like you, I cannot take pain meds for long. In fact, this is really the first time that I have taken them. I had arm surgery a year and a half ago, and I only took Tylenol. That is why I have such a stash of pain meds.
