@Kachina624 I am gradually getting better. My sister-in-law picked up a prescription for Paxlovid for me on Sunday. It gives you a bitter taste in your mouth. I asked for Paxlovid because studies show it provides up to 25% protection against long Covid. I tested positive again today. Tomorrow is the fifth day since I tested positive, hope I have a negative test tomorrow. I will be testing daily since sometimes Paxlovid causes a rebound. I will not be attending the family Christmas dinner if still positive.

@chessylady   I'm glad to hear you're feeling better but sorry to hear you may miss the family festivities.  With the storm coming, there are many of us who will be eating alone.

Continue your recovery and take it easy.

@chessylady , it's quite common to continue to test positive.  Just quarantine the recommended amount of time.

A friend of mine took Paxlovid mainly because his wife has heart issues.  He quarantined himself in a separate room the entire time.  He said the side effects of the paxlovid were pretty nasty GI problems for him.

@chessylady , you can test positive up to three months after you have had COVID.  I was travelling a month after I had COVID and was required to take a test due to travel,  I tested positive and was required by law to isolate all over again even though I did not have Covid.  That is called a false positive.  I would save the testing kits and not do daily testing because of this.

Hope you have a mild case and feel better soon.  LM

You may test positive long after your infectious period which is typically 5-10 days. Feel better soon!

I hope your symptoms are less severe now and  and you are feeling better. This virus is really hard to predict regarding how mild or severe a case may be. DH had the first Omicron variant several months ago and he felt terrible. He is fully vaxxed and had two boosters ...he is in several high-risk categories so we are so glad he had the vaccine and boosters...his dr thinks it helped his case be much less serious than it could have been. It was a month before he felt 100%, but his outcome was so much better than anticipated.
