Please understand that most people come here to discuss something. It is insulting to us to act like we don't understand we should see a physician.

Inflammation is a sign something is going on with your diet. Have you tired an elimination diet? There could be foods in your diet that are causing a chronic problem. Gluten, corn, soy, eggs, peanuts, dairy, nightshades, etc?????? I recommend The Elimination Diet by Tom Malterre. It is being released March 31. Taking a supplement will not get to the root of the issue. You might even get off the Zocor if you are able to pinpoint the cause of the inflammation.

Another vote for turmeric. I also agree about taking a look at your diet. The food items that Peas and Love indicated may be contributing to your inflammation. You will probably also want to add probiotics to your diet. Andrew Lessman has some decent ones, but in addition, you may want to add it into your diet. Sometimes I drink kefir which has probiotics and I also take probiotic supplements. Omega 3 supplements may help - but if you can get Omega 3 from food, that is better. I'd also be concerned about the amount of ibuprofen you're taking. Anything more than occasional use creates problems - but I'm forgetting what they are right now (you can look it up). I understand that you need it for pain right now, but if you can make changes in your diet, you might be able to reduce the inflammation enough that you don't need it or maybe only on occasion. There are also other "gut" based diet books out there that sound like they are similar to The Elimination Diet and you might want to look at those. I bought one but haven't had time to read it yet.
If I was to prioritize the recommendations - I'd say to eliminate foods that cause inflammation and also create a healthy gut to help make your immune system healthy - so add probiotics. That would be the place to start. Adding turmeric also sounds like it would be easy enough to do.

My husband was just at the doctor the other day as he has inflamation in his wrist and got a Cortisone shot. We asked the Doctor about Chondroitin/Glucosamine and he said that really doesn't do a thing. Just his opinion.

You may want to watch the Wheatbelly diet doctor on PBS. He seems to think if you cut wheat, rice and corn it will help stop inflammation.

People asking for "idea, thoughts, suggestions" are really smart enough to ask a question and then research an idea or suggestion to figure out if it is best for them, or even worth asking a Dr about.
Some of the best information, whether it be a medical question, or buying a washer, comes from 'word of mouth'.
A message board nothing more than digital word of mouth, imo.
Also, in my opinion, most Dr's know very little about adjunct stuff. I would trust Andrew Lessman(HSN) over my own Dr for supplement information, in a heartbeat! Dr's don't have every answer.
I find I have to be my own health advocate nowadays. I ask many questions, wherever I want to, and filter the info myself. I end end up finding out things I had never heard of. I have thyroid disease. I won't feel better just depending on my DR, that is for sure.
I find it insulting that some members of this particular board beat the "this is not the place to ask 'that' kind of question (anything medical) drum over and over.
Why can't the people that want to make a suggestion, do so.
Those that feel off-put by a question, then just don't offer up any idea?
No one is going to get sued by giving a suggestion/idea on a public message board.

I couldn't have said it better! I like talking to people and getting their input and experience to help me learn and ask the right questions. I am perfectly able to make intelligent decisions on my own behalf, doctors are great, but they do not always know everything that I need for my health.

Instead of taking a new supplement right off the bat (who really wants to add more pills?), why not first
1) walk leisurely each day and
2) add foods to your diet that reduce inflammation and eliminate foods that cause inflammation?
A good informative article on doing that:
