It is presumptuous for someone to tell another person that their diet is better than another unless they have been asked. In fact, there is research that confirms meat/dairy is carcinogenic. Here is another perspective: there is interesting speculation that Steve Jobs lived as long as he did because of his vegan diet. I suspect that might be true for your friend and her whole food plan. However, this is just an opinion. People have cured their cancer by fasting and diet; and people have died by following the medical prescriptions of cut and burn methods.....and some have lived and survived in spite of it. Every adult has to be honored as to their choice. Diet is a controversial subject and even though I know what I would do, if my loved ones choose differently to dishonor their opinion would create distress and be disrespectful.
Your friend is dedicated to her way of life; true love will support her and surround her with positive energy. Love will honor her decisions for her body. Support her in her diet, bring her some baked potatoes or a fresh fruit basket if you are concerned she is not eating enough or when the going gets rough. Kindness and compassion will provide her with better health than judgment. I know you think you are doing the right thing by considering her diet. Many people accept the status quo and most of us were raised with a standard American diet. As has been said, "she is an adult" and I'll bet she has done a lot of research on her lifestyle choices. My prayers are with her, for you, and her friends for peace and acceptance,

Thank you all for the thoughts and insights.
To clarify currently she is on no meds or treatments for her cancer due to her extreme wt loss . She started to loss weight rapidly about 4 -5 months ago "out of the no-where" so they knew she had cancer again somewhere. Every 2 years or so it is another cancer dx.
When they started treatment the wt loss got worse, she is just under 100 pounds at 5'6"-5'7"
So about 6 weeks ago they stopped treatment to give her time to put on wt and get some strength.
She stopped losing but not gaining anything. This is when the doctors and nutritionists said eat anything you can tolerate and eat as frequently as you can. They are all well aware of her diet restrictions.
She is in great spirits and has her sense of humor.

Just wondering why she isn't being treated with intravenous feedings if she is dangerously underweight and unable to have life preserving treatment for her cancer? Clearly, her way of eating is putting her in a dangerous situation because without treatment what will happen to her?
I think she needs medical guidance and certainly sending her home to pursue a diet that clearly is making it impossible to get treatment for her cancer is like palliative care.
