Re: Is anyone trying Yacon Syrup?

I've never heard of it either. I was thinking maybe it's something you put on pancakes, but doesn't sound like it. How do you even pronounce Yacon anyway? Does it rhyme with "bacon" or more like "yack-on"...like makes you yack? {#emotions_dlg.laugh} I drink aloe vera juice and that stuff is bad enough, think I'll pass on this.

Re: Is anyone trying Yacon Syrup?

Thanks for the suggestion, gazelle. My statement, like yours, was an exaggeration. I did listen to the show preview before I posted. I do not ever try anyone's weight loss suggestion unless it stands to do something more than cosmetic for me. This contains a concentration of nutrients that I believe are a useful addition to my health regime. Most people who have dealt with weight problems for an extended period of time know from experience that no one solution works for everyone. Just yesterday I had a discussion with my doctor about my present eating management routine, and received his support for the direction I've chosen. If it works for me, and it appears it might, I'll give it a try. My question was fairly specific and did not solicit editorials about the source.

I thought there was a typo in the title of this thread. I thought it was supposed to be Bacon Syrup! I was about to go out to buy some! Silly me!

Re: Is anyone trying Yacon Syrup?

Well, I don't know about the syrup but back in 2008 there was a lot of discussion on a low-carb message board (LCHF) about yacon powder being used as a replacement for molassas. It's very low on the Glycemic Index (1). Some people were adding 1/4 tsp. to a cup of granular artificial sweetener to make brown sugar. I suppose the syrup could be used also for that.
