Re: Is anyone else avoiding the stores and malls ?

I'm still going to the store and just some of my normal errands. But I do plan to avoid any large crowds for a while. The Home and Garden show is coming to town next week and I really wanted to go but I think I might pass now. It usually draws a large crowd and many people are in close contact. It's just not worth it to me at this time.

I'm sticking with my normal routine but I don't go to the malls too much anyway, so I may avoid the malls for short time.  My main concern is DS's trip to Greece in a couple of weeks and DD's wedding in 7 weeks, I'm hoping for the best, trying not to panic.

Re: Is anyone else avoiding the stores and malls ?

As malls are primarily empty where I live and many are going out of business, I would not be afraid to go to one.  I am trying to eat healtier right now -- primarily fruits and veggies, and I have cut out all sugar.

There are trials going on in China right now with high dose Vitamin C, and I believe that is what is helping China slow down their infection rates and heal those who are already infected.  It is sad that that news is not being broadcast widely in the media, but Vitamin C does not make the pharmaceutical industry money and we all know what industry pays for an awful lot of ads for every TV program.

Im concerned that there could be food shortages in another couple of weeks. I have stocked up on canned goods ( beans, vergetables, soups etc)  in preparation for the possible shortages.

Here's the thing about "high dose" vitamin C.

Your body can only absorb so much, and once it is at 100%, it cannot, and will not absorb any more, and the excess is excreted through your urine.

So basically, you are flushing the excess right down the toilet.

Yes...am staying away from locations where there are many people!   And am not ordering any prepared foods from fast food/restaurants nor eating out.

So many of the workforce at these places are hourly employees. Many will not stay home if sick because they won't get paid.  Have to depend on the managers/supervisors to send them home and often it just doesn't happen.

I'm still eating out, and in fact, just two days ago, I swung by a fast food restaurant and went through the drive through, and I haven't turned in to a zombie as a result.

It's kind of funny(although funny just doesn't seem like the right word) how fast your perspective can change.

My employer has been very forthcoming with information as this all progresses; and we learned last night that an employee is our first confirmed victim in my city. They're quarantined, doing all they are supposed to do.

But I'd be lying if I said the world seems just the same to me as it did 24 hours ago.

Something sort of along the lines of finding out the boogey man has been in your back yard.

Those of you that wil prepare, continue to do so. I do have confidence in the organization I work for and I do believe this is going to get a lot more prevalent and impactful; possibly in ways none of us have seen in our lifetimes.

I hope I'm wrong. I'll happily take the ribbing and told you so's a million times over with a smile on my face.

The next six weeks will be telling.

Yes, and taking high dose vitamin C through supplements increases your risk of kidney stones. I decreased my 1000/day dose to 500 for that reason.

And although they seem to be getting an upper hand with the virus at this point, I hardly see China’s early approach as an example of how to handle the Corona virus. Much as I consider vitamin C beneficial, I don’t feel as if China finally stemmed the tide by handing out vitamin C.
