So tomorrow I'm having a colonoscopy tomorrow. I usually only eat one real meal a day (early dinner).
I do eat something like an English Muffin in the morning, sometimes.
I can't taste anything or smell much so I don't have much apetite.
But here's the funny thing about the brain.....because I can't eat today (except clear broth) green or yellow jello. I'm suddenly very hungry.
I mean, I woke up thinking about food. I don't work so I'm home around all of this food and normally I could care less about eating it. However, today, everything looks amazing!
I just think it's funny the difference now that my mind knows I can't eat, it is suddenly very important to me. Ha!

Oh Annabelle..I go in about a month. I'm just thinking of it as a temp blimp in my normal day. But I know what you're saying. But after tomorrow, just a few hours away, you can eat more. You've probably eaten pretty lightly for this and you're a tad hungry. Tomorrow, tomorrow, I'll love ya, tomorrow...........sing to the food. Good luck. What time tomorrow do you get yours done?

@qualitygal Thanks for the good thoughts! Every time I see your moniker (post) I hear in my head their song.....
I loved that song! You are so sweet to make me feel better. I'm going to go run a few errands. That will get my mind off of things.
I am overweight but it's not so much from what I eat but I have a bad back and knees and don't move much. I actually very picky about what I eat (unfortunately). So this being so hungry thing today is a new and interesting feeling for me.
It's so obvious it psychological. Ha! ps You are so sweet!

Good for you for getting this exam done. I had three done, and the prep made my stomach upset so I wasn't real hungry. That gallon of stuff also filled me up. But after the procedure was done and I got in the car to go home, I felt ravenous. Each time I had to stop at Wendy's and get a chicken sandwich, fries, chocolate shake. Not weight conscious, but filled the hole. I really wanted to stop at a mexican restaurant, but the Dr. didn't recommend that.
I'm sure you'll do just fine.

I have an appointment with the doctor that's going to perform my first colonoscopy on Tuesday. I think it's just a consultation and I'll find out when I'm going to have the procedure done. I like to eat so I don't know how I'm going to handle not eating. ![]()
About five weeks ago I went to the doctor for a rash on my lower leg. I hadn't been to a doctor in about ten years. It turned out to be ringworm. I'm using a prescription cream that seems to control the fungus but it's not doing a good job of getting rid of it. Anyway, from that first doctor visit I got a flu shot, had a mammogram, got an appointment for a colonoscopy consultation, had blood work done, and now I'm taking medications for cholesterol & high blood pressure and started exercising. The funny part about it is the ringworm hasn't been eradicated but at least I'm getting my other issues taken care of. ![]()

@brewhaha Good for you! I'm glad you have your health taken care of now. The rest will heal and get better.

I think you might know some of my colon history, but just in case?
In 2008 when I spent close to a month in the hospital with my bleeding Right Colon, and 6 Colonoscopies. My total nutritional intake for 17 days was orange Jello and apple juice, and of course the gallon of GoLytely the day before each of my Colonoscopies, which at times were only 2 days later?
Since I had fasted for 2 days many times just to give my digestive system a break, was an issue, the day of or the day after. What bothered me the most? When the food truck went by and the smell of coffee. I am not a big coffee drinker, 1 cup per day, but that was the hard part for me.
Now having recently went through my 20th colon procedure, I mentioned in another thread how I had to play "mental Trickery" with myself in order to finish the last few glasses of my gallon of GoLytely. Never got hungry, never not able to hold down my many gallons of GoNuLytely.
I was able to trick my brain into thinking of something other than GoNuLytely, maybe because i have a small brain, beats me. I only know it worked for me in 2008/2009/2011/2012 , and more recently, about 6 weeks ago when the bleeding started once again.
I like to believe I can control my brain and my thoughts, and so far I think I am winning the battle.
Hope all goes well with your procedure,

@qualitygal I googled to see what else I could do to make this less ugh! One thing I thought about because I don't like beef or chicken broth (those cubes or cans) I called the Dr and asked if I strained (with the tiny holes metal strainer) Chicken Noodle Soup and I added water to thin it even more. The nurse said, "Yes" just make sure there isn't anything in it. There wasn't. I strained it 2 times. I wanted to make sure there was a little something other than just Ginger Ale, juice, etc.
I wanted to make sure the electrolites weren't messed up by not eating.
Every Dr is different. Mine said I can drink Pepsi (which I am a Pepsi w/Real sugar drinker, so that helps.
It's drinking the stuff that is going to be wicked. I read where a Dr said you could flavor it with Gumi Bears! I wouldn't trust it though!
My friend's husband squirted some lemon juice in it. I might do that. I also read where some people make it very cold and it kills the flavor and also to drink it through a straw.
Anyway, text me when it's your turn.

@hckynut I feel like such a loser John, complaining about my little thing! I'm so sorry you've had to go through all of that. I guess if there's an upside it's that you live in a world where they can treat you and keep you going.....
You are such an asset to all of us here. Well, think about me tomorrow (I call it the Rotor Router).
The fact that I can't smell or taste has worked in my favor because I don't feel hungry.
