Re: Insurance Won't Pay for Preventive Colonoscopy!

Don't get me started on health insurers--my language would certainly get me banned for life!  @Lipstickdiva Please consider contacting your state insurance commisioner to file a complaint.

Re: Insurance Won't Pay for Preventive Colonoscopy!

I'm sorry you have to fight to get preventive care. I'm probably going to be dealing with insurance issues before long, myself. We're retired and I'm just about to turn 64 and still pay for my insurance through the Marketplace.

Something is going on with my blood platelets. They keep going higher and higher, faster and faster.

I just had an appointment with oncology specialist this past week. They're getting really close to the "concern" zone in just 5 weeks.  Waiting to hear back from my PC doc.

I hesitate to say it, but if some people have their way ... hold on to your hats. Everything, including insurance, is going to go from bad to worse...except for some of the more wealthy folks. If I have a blood clot or stroke, we'll probably be wiped out, unless it's fatal. People shouldn't have to live with these kind of worries in our country.

@Lipstickdiva Apologies if you have already dealt with this, and I am late here.  Does your husband employer offer any other plan that may cover this?  I had a terrible insurance plan once that provided inadequate coverage.  I waited for employer open insurance season and signing up with a better plan to have a procedure that wouln't be adequately covered.  if your procedure can wait until open season, maybe the employer has newer plans added since 2010 that cover this procedure.  You can also ask the medical provider for a discount.  some of them offer them to people without coverage.  Best of luck to you and good health!

@NYCLatinaMe, no they have no other plans.  This is it.  His employer picks the plan and that's what we have to sign up for.

The plan I can get through my employer is horrendous and crazy expensive.

Re: Insurance Won't Pay for Preventive Colonoscopy!

The lady who gave us the schedule and instructions told us that it was covered by our insurance. Which my husband already informed me that it was. She then told us the profofol might not be just anesthesia. He called our insurance and they said if it was recommended by the doctor it is. My husband said we would pay out of pocket for it anyway. I told him I already made that decision. He laughed.

Wrong is still wrong just because you benefited from it.
