@Mom2Dogs , my experience is as @Kachina624  describes.  I usually get the shot and take it easy the first couple of days after.  For me, it takes a day or two to get the full benefit.

@Desertdi.  It's very dry here too 12% yesterday.  I can definitely feel it on the rare occasion when our humidity rises.

@Shelbelle    According to My Chart.....he received an injection of corticosteroid.  What is the gel?

I am not sure if the gel is used in the hip area but I have had 3 in my knee over the last 2 years. Made from hyaluronic acid the gel shots help to cushion the area where cartilage has been eaten away by arthritis, and provide much more comfort and less pain.

I just looked it up and yes, Synvisc Gel is also given in the hip to help with discomfort from Osteoarthritis.

Is he on Medicare, Medicare will pay for the gel shots every 6 months, otherwise quite pricey.

@Shelbelle. Yes he is on medicare.... he is 84 years old
