Hi @domel-

I know everyone is different but I've had a large hemangioma of the liver for years. They saw it on an mri and never said it needed a biopsy. No symptoms from it at all.

Also I've had many benign cysts. I think some must just have this kind of thing, who knows why?!

So even though it seems scary when they don't know, I've always found it reassuring to go to these specialists who are able to tell you, it's ok and I hope thats exactly what they tell youSmiley Happy

Thank you & I'm sorry I don't have anything to share about the liver. I'll keep you in my prayers too.

Most hemangioma's are benign.  Years ago I had 2 of them.  One on the right lobe of my liver and one on the left.  They were growing and kept getting bigger.  In my case (and many cases)... we are born with them.

They didn't want to operate because hemangioma's are bleeders and so is the liver. No one could figure it out. Finally, my family doctor told me to try coming off of the estrogen I was taking.  I did stop the estrogen and the hemangiomas shrunk and haven't had a problem with them since.  That was many years ago and I am fine!  They are barely detectable on an xray now.

@twinny70

I was recently diagnosed with a fatty liver by my GI Dr. and will see him every 6 months now.

He didn't seem overly concerned, but did say I should stop my nightly 'wind-down' cocktail(s).

Re: Indeterminate findings in MRI for liver

@domel    I'm going to say first off, you need to turn your mindset to positivity. Stop being so negative about what your Drs are finding. Let them do their work on you and for you and think positive thoughts. No need to go to the dark side as  you're doing more testing to rule things out.

If you feel the need to read things on the internet, edudcate yourself in order to better understand what your Drs are talking about but don't use this info to drag you into a death warrant - it just isn't so. I think most of us do this too and then freak ourselves out by what we read. Don't do this.

A liver hemangioma is a tangled network of blood vessels in or on the surface of the liver. This tumor is noncancerous and usually doesn't cause symptoms. ... Even when they're diagnosed, most liver hemangiomas don't require treatment. A liver hemangioma is noncancerous and doesn't increase your risk of developing cancer.Jan 6, 2016

I had annual blood work and my alkaline phosphatase was slightly elevated (the first time 137, second time 110, third time 147). All other blood work fine. Physician sent me for an ultrasound which revealed 2 small lesions (one .6 cm and the other 1.9 cm). It was believed to be a hemangioma but they ordered an MRI for further evaluation. Well the MRI revealed the same areas on the liver, small pancreatic cysts which I was told are common but they will monitor and a kidney cyst which they will also monitor. The MRI was not, however able to definitively confirm a hemangioma so they are referring me to a gastroenterologist who reviews these scans more often and who may be able to see what is going on. They did mention the possibility of a biopsy to make sure nothing was cancerous but I have to see what the gi physician says first. I have no symptoms.

Has anyone had or know anyone who has had these type of issues? I already have myself dead especially reading the internet but I also read that most cysts are benign. I really feel l in me I am going to have a breakdown I am so nervous.

Any info, good or bad, is appreciated

@domel

I can most certainly empathise with you as my December blood work showed elevated alkaline phosphatase.  Yesterday I had an ultrasound and more blood work.

After initially reading about causes, I decided to wait for the results as most of what I read was not good.

I will keep you in my thoughts for a positive outcome.

Re: Indeterminate findings in MRI for liver

Stay focused on "slightly elevated" and "common cysts"

If you are having no symptoms, you are probably fine.

Those labs are not enough to be alarmed, but should be watched.
