This drug came out in the late 70's and I have been taking is since then.  I had surgery for Crohn's disease and now have IBS.  The other day I went to buy some and was told it was behind the counter at the pharmacy and asked about it.  Said they only have it in 36 count.  I was getting the two bottles of 200 at Costco.  Seems like no one has any with 100.  My prescription coverage won't cover it since it's over the counter.   They did cover it when it was only by prescription.  Does anyone know where I can get at least 100 pills in a bottle.  I wasn't aware this drug was a problem until I went to buy it.  Seems like it's the poor man's methadone.  Here I was taking it for years and never knew.  Never seemed to bother me and I was pretty active.  I did put in a request at Costco to at least offer a bottle of 100 in the pharmacy.  Just another over the counter that some have abused and now people that need it have to pay the price.  A lot of people have IBS and I'm sure take more than I do a day.  Just venting on this since it seems more things that we've used for years are now taken away.  Guess the companies can make more money selling small packs.  I can afford it but what about all the people that can't.  Anyone else feel the same?

@kismet

I don't have any knowledge of the Immodium issue, but I have allergies and I used to have frequent sinus infections so I can understand your frustration (like what I experienced with restricted access to products with Sudafed.)

I did want to share that Marshmallow Extract might work for your issue, and can help heal the GI tract.  I have colitis, and I researched this for a time when I was symptomatic.  Have you tried it?

@lolakimono Where would you find marshmallow extract? Is it a liquid or pill? I have issues also and would be interested in hearing more.

@godi

It is the root from the plant.  You can get it as pills or liquids.  I have only taken the pills.  Basically, if you have pulled a marshmallow apart you know that the inside is very sticky and binding.  Those properties keep the big D at bay.

This is what I have taken.

Ginger root also works, but the properties are different.  Ginger increases heat in the body, so it "cooks" the D into solids. You can take it as a supplement if you do not like the taste of ginger.

The CVS website is showing the generic available in 200, 96 and other counts.

The FDA said too many people were dying from a heart attack.

Have you tried Amazon, or Walmart?

I never knew Immodium was so dangerous!?!  I only take it very occasionally though.

I buy the generic version at Walmart.  They have plenty on the shelves.  They sometimes even have two bottles of 50 wrapped together to be sold as one.

I take it when I am going to be away for the day..traveling or on a boat for a whole day.  I have bottles everywhere..in my car, boat, handbag, medicine cabinet, etc.

No problem buying it.

Thanks for all the information.   I did try to get some at Walmart but the larger size was sold out.  I know the Equate brand works because I use to get it there before Costco sold it.  Some generics aren't as good as others.  I've tried several brands in the past so I first went to Walmart.  I will check again since I do have half a bottle left.  I'm sure a lot of people have to plan to go out unlike those that don't have problems.  I know both Crohn's and IBS affect a lot of people, more than when I was diagnosed.

I get my sudafed at Walgreens, box of 96 for I think $12 or something close to it.  I do have allergies and keep it on hand.  I suppose everyone has to sign for it with ID.

I'll keep check at Walmart.
