My husband recently lost his job and the life insurance policy thru that company. I experienced the same thing but many years prior. I purchased replacement life insurance thru a tradtional insurance company my rates are high. Since we are well beyond our 50's I was wondering if either AARP or AAA are as good as they appear? I have checked the rates and they seem to vary but increase at 10 year intervals. I frankly don't know which way to go with this decision. We have to have some kind of life insurance but how much and with who. I had such a bad experience with one life insurance company and I don't want to make that costly mistake again. Can anyone help me with their expereince with this?
Thanks in advance for you time and help.

AARP is a secondary Medicare insurance referral company.
AAA is the Automobile Association of America.

Actually AARP is more than that. They sell Auto Insurance and also Life Insurance, through New York Life. I know because my dh has his insurance thru them and we just got an unexpected divident. :-)

Thanks for responding so quickly. I have been receiving ads in the mail regarding life insurance thru both of these companies. The rates seem to be lower than the traditional life insurance companies. Not sure what to believe.

Their Auto insurance is not thru N.Y. Life but through Hartford, left that out.

I had the same situation when I retired. I purchased thru AARP.

If you two are well beyond your 50s, I would question why you need life insurance at all. Once my husband retired, we no longer have that insurance. Our sons are grown and gone though.

I'm single and retired. Other than a small, paid-up policy, I carry no other life insurance. I'm another who often receives life insurance offers from both AARP and AAA. Both companies do, indeed, sell life insurance (and car insurance).

I had life insurance through my employer for many years until I realized there really was no good reason to have it.
I do not have children or a spouse, and any debts I have would easily be covered by my assets. I decided to save myself a few dollars every month and discontinued it.

Have you checked out Colonial Penn Life Insurance?
