I had one on Wed afternoon and last night I was sick enough to die. I have never had this happen before, with any shot. I googled it and you can get this sick, from a DPT shot

I have had these shots years ago. I am older now, and I don't know if that is what made ,a differnce or not

This better last me till I pop my clogs, because I don't want to go through this again

I even had the new shingle shot, without a problem

I had my last Tetanus shot in 1994, will never get another one unless 100% necessary. I could not sleep after the shot for many nights, just an awful experience.

Unless there is a specific reason to do so, I never get a vaccine shot.  I did get the one for shingles but a "new" one has come on the market and I will not get that.  Had no problems with the first but see no need for another.

I got the new one ,because the old one didn't protect me as well. The new one is 90% effective, and the old one was about 40% effective

I didn't have any problems, but, it might not be the same for others. I am glad I got mine. My sister suffered from shingles, and they are awful

I will get the newer shingles shot, once I know it is perfected and been tried and true for awhile. Did get the older one 5 years ago.

Not sure what this shot is, or for what reason it is given. I see @Shelbelle said she had a Tetanus shot, is that what this DPT injection might be? 

I have had several Tetanus shots in my lifetime, one just  a bit  over a year ago. The only thing I have ever experienced from this shot is a relatively sore arm, not oven enough to concern me.

If you are on another med, might this be a reaction to it(them)?  Sorry to hear it bothered you.

@hckynut I am not taking anything that reacts with it. DPT comes all together, it is whopping cough (pertussis) diphtheria, and tetanus.

I have read up on it and my reactions are within normal range. I was so sick I could barely leave the bathroom. I was drenched in sweat and ,so sick ,and weak, I feared I wouldn't be able to get back to bed on my own, but I managed

I have never been sick like this, from any shot, and I still feel bad today, but ,so far ,I can keep food down

I refuse any injections or flu shots of any kind.

@cherryThat DPT should be good for many years. Sorry it was such a rough night, but you are well protected now. I'm a firm believer in keeping my vacinations up-to-date. Just had the new shingles shot. Knew if would make my arm sore . . . so I did a bunch of "arm circles" afterward; I was much better than anticipated. Hope you feel better as the day goes on!

@cherry  When I saw my doctor last week he recommended I get the new shot as it was not the "live" version as the old one was and was more effective.    He wanted me to get the new one mostly because I am under stresss since my dh is now under hospice care and stress can trigger a shingles outbreak.  He also said that he thinks medicare does not cover the new version.  What was your experience cost-wise.
